I believe in traditional learning and teaching. A heart-to-heart connection is essential for digestion of knowledge and without teachers, the world loses its compassion. The reason I became a school teacher is because I enjoy the little moments that learners in a class are able to create around the curriculum; the small comments which are passed and the bonds that are built around a standardised expectation. I've developed a creative approach in my sessions with students that involves applying a student's particular talents and interests (regardless of subject) in the process of language acquisition, along with the simultaneous development of critical skills like close and careful reading, argumentation, written style, and effective communication.

I am versed in the requirements and intricacies of a range of national and international diploma programs. When working with students supplementing an academic syllabus, my goal is always to position them to succeed in the assignments and assessments laid out by a primary instructor.

In the modern world, the significance of poetry is overlooked. From Aristotle to Derrida (the range is not comprehensive), literary theory has maintained that a poem's power is measured in its affect. Throughout this course, our goal will not be to make inscrutable poetic analysis - though the first part of the lesson will be spent analysing word choice, meter, line length and spaces of an English poem written between pre-modernism and postmodernism. Rather, through our perusal of poetic form we will be able to ground our work, somewhat modestly, in the English poetic tradition.

Before the first class you will send me some of your own work so I know how to build or refine aesthetic temperament. I have been writing poetry for ten years and two years ago I published a chapbook at a press with competitive standards, and I am currently working on a full-length collection. If you wish to take up poetry seriously, time is needed and an eye for detail is essential.

I look forward to us broadening our aesthetic sensibilities together.

Have you dreamt of reading Shakespeare and making sense of his words ? Did you know that some Shakespearian plays are easier to tackle than others ? In this class we will be looking at one of Shakespeare's fantasy comedies or one of his tragedies. We will read the play together and discuss the usage of words, as well as its historical contexts. We will study the most important passages in the way they have influenced world culture. I encourage my students to memorise these passages by heart, a gratifying experience.

Spoken word is a performing art between poetry and performance, leaving reason behind and discovering your creativity. I would love to teach you how to write poetry and spoken word pieces. First of all, we zoom in on the content: how do you translate your experiences, opinions, stories to paper, how do you go from idea to piece, and which writing techniques help you write? And we mainly get to work with fun assignments. From the content point of view, we then look at performance: how do you recite a piece, and how does it support what you want to say.

Philosophy follows wisdom. This class will explore a panorama of philosophical texts through the poetic diction of stories and myths. Offering close-readings and lectures from Heraclitus to Shakespeare, Kierkegaard to Ávila, students are invited to engage and formulate new ideas. Personal requests are very welcome in consultation.
