Setswana is a rich, rhythmic language spoken in Botswana, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Belonging to the Bantu family, it closely resembles other languages in the region. I have found learning Setswana through several terrific teachers, thorough textbooks and daily life enriching. Growing up in Botswana, speaking this beautiful and intricate language, or at least making an effort to do so, can transform the way you live in Botswana. I have taught semester-long regular beginners Setswana lessons to children aged 7-12 and adults, with strong emphasis on understanding grammar by breaking it down into “formulas” for how to form tenses and sentences. I teach these and vocabulary through a mix of traditional explanatory lectures, practice exercises and creative games, accompanied by study techniques I have found very useful for learning foreign languages. I have also worked as a trained English tutor, and study linguistics at university, both of which have shaped me to better understand and teach language. Each class will consist of grammar formulas (eg: basic conjugation in the present tense: linking pronoun [for the human noun class group, for example: ke=I, o=you, o=him/her, re=we, le=you plural, ba=they] + “tla” [as in “will”] + verb), some vocabulary words, spoken or written exercises or games to go through together and longer practice exercises to build independent confidence. I have enormous experience in communicating with people at all levels and from different backgrounds. I strongly believe that communication is the key to employability. I also have considerable experience of organizing and formatting processes which are aligned to assessing and training requirements. For over twenty-five years, I have assessed Parliamentary Candidates for a major political party and for the past twelve years, I have been organizing and Facilitating them both face-to-face and since the pandemic online as VADs or Virtual Assessment Days. The biggest barrier facing any adult learner who is also in employment is trying to balance the conflicting demands of employment with the competing demands of a formal course which has its own timetable. Whether the employment is full-time or part-time, there are always just so many hours in the day. So rest assured, I can be completely flexible to suit your timetable.

I am a native Italian speaker and have more than two years of experience teaching Italian as a foreign language to English-speaking students. My path to becoming an Italian teacher began with a Bachelor's degree in Translation Studies for the German and English languages. I then completed a Master's degree in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language at University of Bologna. Moreover, my passion for teaching the language and culture of my country led me to a second Master's degree in e-learning for teaching Italian to foreigners at University for Foreigners in Siena. My teaching method is entirely based on the needs of the student. For those who mainly want to improve their oral expression skills, the lesson focuses a lot on conversation. In this way, grammar does not remain dry theory, but is applied again and again as you speak. Vocabulary will also come to you more quickly with practice. French is a hard language to learn even for us french. My class is meant to teach French without getting bored. I’m confident that anyone can learn French independently of age, everything is about method. For infants and preschool children French can be introduced through games, enriching their vocabulary. For children and teenagers I like to do classes mixing both games and more conventional teaching (grammar). This way they learn and practice french while never getting bored. I want French to be fun. I am native French and lived in Paris my whole life until this year. I’ve always taught French to English students from my school (American school of paris) so I have experience in that field.

They are focused on the four key areas of foreign language study: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The primary purpose of the course is to prepare students to be college-ready, well-rounded global citizens who can communicate effectively in Spanish and are aware of the cultural influences of the Spanish and Latino heritage at home and abroad. This course includes a broad series of lessons and activities that offer a variety of modalities for ultimate student engagement and content retention. Each unit contains a series of lessons that include the introduction of content, virtual demonstration of that content, and repeated opportunity to practice that content.
