I'm very open and adjust to individual students. I'll properly teach trumpet technique, the approach to jazz music and jazz music theory and piano. I'm very open to all levels, from beginners who want to get into either trumpet or jazz, to advanced musicians who want to deepen their musical knowledge or facility on their instrument.

Über mich

I adjust to each student individually. I've always developed a good relationship with my students and parents, when applicable. Teaching was always gratifying and inspiring to me as well. I take students at any level. I've taught complete beginners and show them how to approach trumpet and jazz music, guide them through the first step. As well as that, I also teach more skilled and experienced musicians who want to further develop their skills on either trumpet or in jazz improvisation, theory, composition or rhythm.

I am very open minded and open hearted. In general I am a calm and patient person. I try to find the best in my students, so that we can focus on what they need at the moment to improve as efficiently as possible. The goal is usually to provide the students with sufficient material and knowledge so that they are able to grow by themselves.

Bildung

Master's Degree in Jazz Music at Sibelius Academy
Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana.

Studied with various teachers, such as Joe Magnarelli, Jukkis Uotila, Bryan Davis, Philip Dizack, Gregory Hutchinson, Manuel Dunkel, Jukka Eskola, Tero Lindberg.

Erfahrung / Qualifikationen

8 years of active playing and performing around Europe
3 years of active teaching

Played with Jukkis Uotila, David Sauzay, Eero Koivistoinen, Dmitry Baevsky, Mikko Innanen, UMO Jazz Orchestra.

Performed at Pori Jazz Festival, Porvoo Jazz Festival, Ljubljana Jazz festival and various other venues.

I can provide you private drum lessons, that are tailored completely by your own interests, or I can advice you what would be efficient for you to improve, depending on where you stand with your experience and skills. We can together discuss about setting a goal, and start working your way towards it.

You don't have to have previous experience in playing the drums. You can be an absolute beginner, intermediate, or more advanced student. I also teach all ages.

Some things that we can go through in lessons:

-Overall knowledge over the instrument
-Tuning & setting up the drums
-Posture & technique
-Groove & timing. Playing with a metronome
-Sound & dynamics
-Different styles (jazz, soul, funk, hiphop, latin, pop/rock etc.)
-Rudimental playing (classical etudes to improve your technique)
-Reading, writing & transcribing drum notes/fills/solos etc.
-Improvisation
-Polyrhythms
