Hi, I am Orí, a lute and guitar player from Israel, living in Switzerland. I have been performing with ensembles and as a soloist all over the world. I have been teaching lute and guitar for many years in many different levels. I put emphasis on self-directed learning, the student dictates what they want to learn and the pace that is comfortable for them. I'm there to support and give guidance. I have recently started a course in Gestalt-therapy, this is perhaps less relevant, but it is important for me, and I believe it helps me in my approach to teaching and music-making alike. looking forward to getting to know you.

Education

I have a Diploma in Historical Plucked Instruments from the Hochschule für Musik Trossingen, Germany, a Master in Medieval Music and Early Renaissance from the same Institute, as well as a master in Guitar and Lute from the ZHdK in Switzerland.

Guitar teaching in the music school in Konstanz Germand 2007-2009.
Guitar and Lute teaching in the music school in St. Gallen, Switzerland 2013-2015.
Private guitar and lute lessons from 2003 and counting.

Having taught for two years in a conservatory, I give courses of all types according to the needs of the student: discovery of the instrument, discovery of music, lessons, recorder support lessons, music theory support, directory specific to the instrument and others. I remain in the academic framework but you will use unusual means in order to make you discover other aspects of music (improvisation etc).

I give lessons or music theory support in Basel and its surroundings. All ages and all levels. I like to share my passion in a relaxed atmosphere!

I am an experienced musician, studied in Lausanne, Berlin and Basel and am currently completing my music education master at the Basel Music Academy.

In my career, my life is frozen, my Lust, my Motivation, and my Ratschläge, my life is erroneous. Even though the settings are individual and personal, the programs are different.

Since I have been teaching violin and music, not a day has gone by without me saying to myself that motivation and pleasure are the greatest drivers of learning. This is why I always favor a relaxed and work-friendly atmosphere during my classes. Technique is of course of great importance to me.
I teach musical initiation, music theory and the viola which I practiced in chamber music and of course the violin, my main instrument with which I perform in several orchestras and ensembles.

Studying in two different countries with two diferent systems have given a wide perspective of teaching in different ways always thinking on what's best for the students.

Graduated in piano and currently studying singing at the Music Academy in Basel looking forward to share my knowledge and experience with you all!

Trained in Classical and Early music, and having studied performance in harpsichord, organ, piano, classical and electric guitar, I've also studied chamber music composition and electroacoustic composition. A passionate learner myself, I have recently graduated with a Masters from the Hochschule für Musik Basel in Specialized Performance (Improvisation). These diverse experiences are necessarily integrated into what I teach and how.

In my theory classes we’ll look at the fundamentals of rhythm, pitch, solfège, intervals, key signatures, cadences, and other important groundwork whose rigorous study we can then apply to real-life examples of music, helping you acquire a sharper analytical ear.

I look forward to working out a comprehensive approach to improving your music theory skills, please feel free to get in touch!
