I give percussion lessons on instruments such as daf, frame drum, darbuka, tonbak, and many more.
I also give singing lessons specialised on Kurdish and Turkish traditions.

In my lessons, I focus on posture, technique, music theory, and repertoire. But my most important task as a teacher is to motivate my students and help them on their musical journey.

I've been teaching music for 10 years and I'm based in Rotterdam. I have a Bachelor's degree in percussion and singing from the Conservatory of Ege University of Izmir and a Master's degree from the Codarts Conservatory of Rotterdam.

Whether you're a beginner or an advanced musician, I can customise my lessons to suit your unique needs and interests. My blend of skills, experience, and passion for teaching ensures that each lesson is both engaging and effective.

My musical journey began as a child with my father who is a professional musician. Although my family hails from Erzurum, I grew up in Istanbul until 2014. That year, I moved to Izmir and short after I started taking daf lessons from Sami Hosseini and joined the Ahura Rhythm Ensemble in 2015 as a professional percussion player and singer.

Since 2016, I've been teaching daf and percussion and have led or assisted in many rhythm workshops since 2019. I’ve also collaborated with various music projects, joining the ethnic group Neva Pangea in 2019 and Salut de Smyrne in 2020.

Alongside my group work, I’ve pursued individual projects as well. I was accepted into Ege University State Conservatory in 2020 and graduated in 2024. Now living in the Netherlands, I'm a master's student at Codarts, continuing my vibrant music career.

My name is Federica and I'm an Italian drummer. I speak Italian, English, and Spanish. I graduated in Codarts, Hogeschool voor de Kunsten en Muziek in Master of Music. I am currently attending the PhD in the University of Evora (Pt) in Music and Musicology, specialization in Performance.

Apart from teaching the most amazing latin rhythms, In my lessons I apply the stick control book, to achieve a good technique, and at the same time I teach coordination and grooves, with the best methods and books from the most qualified drummers.

I'm a professional drummer from Spain, but living in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I have studied Latin drums at Codarts, university of the arts, in Rotterdam, so I've acquired a lot of knowledge and skills on Cuban and Brazilian music, jazz, funk and Pop.

Did you always wanted to improve your singing but you never had the time?
If you're up for some creativity in this Quarantine weeks, I offer you singing classes through Skype.
I suggest to work on 3 main aspects, which are divided into LEI (Learning, Exploring, Interpret + info below):

- REPERTOIRE (Learning): Choose a song you love

- TECHNIQUE (Exploring): Let's discover all you can do with your own instrument, your voice. I will give you some techniques to extend the possibilities in your Voice ('Embodied Voice', + info below)

- INTERPRETATION (Interpret): there are infinite ways to transmit a song! More ways than humans on earth, because each one of us can do many interpretations of one single song. We will explore the different ways to learn a song.

Singing is the oldest instrument we have, people sang while working, in gatherings, to their loved ones... but now days singing make people shy, make them lose confidence in their voice. That's why I want to offer some concrete tools that can help you to clearly understand what you feel when you sing and find the way in what you want to sing. I want that it feels good!! Singing cannot be suffering (like so many other things ... )

METHOD: Embodied Voice
The voice, our instrument, is not only the vocal cords in our throat, but it is also your whole body and the energy you carry. If you move your arm while you're singing it will affect the sound, but also any emotion you feel.

I worked for 6 years in Tallers de Música, a music school in Barcelona. I have experience in teaching people of different ages. And I also did private lessons.

Two worlds

I was born within two worlds, the East and the West; the folklore music of central Greece and the classical one. A major factor in the formation of my musicality comes from the tight relation of my family with Greek traditional music. However, music of any kind was always welcome at my home. Inspired by my father who is also a singer, I got involved in choir singing and started piano lessons. Opting for singing was a choice that gave me the freedom to express my mind.

R’n’B & Latin

At my first piano lessons, I realised how music is put on paper and the importance of it. At about the same time I started singing in the school choir of my secondary school and I kept being between the lead voices of the high school choir. That was the point where I practiced the different voice harmonies and got over my teenage reluctance by singing in front of the public. At the sweet age of 14, I developed a special interest in R’n’B and soul music. Later on, I got involved in the pop and rock scene but suddenly, Latin jazz music attracted my interest.

One of the reasons I fell in love with Latin music is because I feel that each emotion is manifested at its maximum glory. Latin music is a mixture of cultures and backgrounds; it is the fusion of European harmony brought to the colonies with African rhythms like Cuban music was brought to New York.

Singing as a vocal discovery

I consider myself a people’s person. When teaching I have the need to welcome the student into a safe environment of acceptance where music can happen. In order for the student to let go of personal timidness, mutual trust comes with time yet is necessary. I prioritise my students’ needs; teach them the technical aspects they should know so as to develop a healthy instrument but also coach them so that they develop their taste in music.

Because I have been singing various styles through my career, I believe I am quite a chameleon of styles (Latin, Brazilian, Jazz, Pop, Greek). In my lessons I find helpful to use some mini percussion so that the singer can establish an internal metronome. I am very supportive with each individuals’ needs and goals, that is why I always make a personal profile of my students and their progress and also ask them to design their personal dream board. All in all, I always use a combo of methods and adapt at the personal needs of the student.

Singing for me is always a vocal discovery and this is what I would like to help my students achieve. The essential idea is to develop a healthy instrument with which you can express through the good and bad days. I have been studying with different teachers around the Netherlands (Codarts alumni) and Greece and during this time I have realised that learning can happen anywhere and anytime.

Hello everybody! Welcome to my profile!

Have you always wanted to know more about rhythm, percussion and drums? Then you are in the right place! :)

My name is Giovanni, I'm an italian percussionist currently living in The Netherlands and studying at Codarts music school in Rotterdam.

Latin music is the field I explored and studied the most, especially music coming from Cuba and Brazil: two different and at the same time similar worlds that boast an incredible and extremely interesting music culture.
Talking about Cuban music, my main instruments are congas, bongos and timbales, together with all small percussion (guiro, maracas, clave, shekere). I will guide you through the different music styles that developed in this wonderful island during the past 200 years, such as salsa, son, rumba, cha-cha-cha, mambo, songo among many others.
About the Brazilian side, I can teach you how to learn to play the pandeiro, in all its different styles and rhythms, together with the timbau, the repique, the dobras, the surdo and many other instruments that belong to this amazing tradition.

In my musical career, I also got to play and studied other types of percussion that belong to other traditions. To name one, the cajon, originally coming from Perù and later incorporated in spanish flamenco, is another fascinating instrument, and incredibly versatile when it comes to play many styles of music, especially western pop and funk music: it can really function as a substitute for the drums!

Talking about drums, I will be happy to guide you through the study of this marvelous instrument as well, starting from the basic techniques until the study of all the rhythmic possibilities that this instrument gives.

It's also not important if you cannot read music, I can help you with that as well. If you are already a singer, we will work in order to refine your technique.

Although I have the most experience with classical, I am able and I am glad to teach other styles!

Voice, breathing, and posture are connected and fundamental for a healthy technique so we will also work on that while we focus on your voice.

Singing can be very personal and confronting but do not fear, we work in a safe environment.

I am Celia, a professional saxophonist and singer. I am offering individual (online or face-to-face) lessons in Saxophone, Singing, Improvisation, or Music Theory. I have seven years of experience as a teacher.

Hello! My name is Luz. I am a singer, and I teach singing using the Rabine Method and the Alexander Technique. The Rabine Method is a vocal technique and pedagogy, and the Alexander Technique is a method developed to improve posture and the way we use our bodies.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE VOICE:

Singing has been a lifelong passion for me, but I used to be quite shy and introverted. I was afraid to sing in front of others, even though a part of me longed to do so. At the age of 15, I began taking singing lessons to create a safe space for myself to sing, where only my teacher would listen. Slowly, I started performing live and began to truly enjoy it. However, over time, I encountered difficulties with my vocal technique, and my enjoyment of singing faded. After an extensive search for the right teachers to help me overcome these challenges, I discovered the Alexander Technique and the Rabine Method. That's when my journey towards progress and joy truly began.

ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE AND THE RABINE METHOD:

The Alexander Technique teaches people how to reduce general body tension and move in harmony with their body's mechanics, paying close attention to the spine and joints. Within just three months of weekly lessons, I noticed improvements in both my posture and my voice. I came to understand that the vocal system is intricately connected to the entire body, and singing could be a harmonious experience for both my mind and my body. This newfound joy inspired me to help others in the same way, leading me to become an Alexander Technique teacher.

Around the same time, I also discovered the Rabine Method, an exceptional vocal technique with a profound understanding of the phonatory system and a clear pedagogical approach that caters to individual student needs. It is centered on recognizing the unique learning process of each student and determining what they are ready to absorb.

Through my lessons, my goal is to transmit the joy and happiness that singing can bring. I hope my students will learn to focus on the learning process and be surprised by the results. My teaching approach doesn't solely prioritize outcomes; it values the joy of the journey to get there. I firmly believe that everyone can sing because we all possess the same vocal system. The key lies in training and developing awareness of our current abilities so that we can work with what we bring to each lesson.

- Initially struggled to sing in tune but made great improvements in less than a year.

Are you ready to delve into the world music knowledge? Here is your place! I'm specializing in latin, brazilian and flamenco. So, I can teach you a wide variety of instruments and tradition. In the latin/cuban music you can learn congas, timbales and bongó, but also: güiro and shekeré. With brazilian music I can teach you pandeiro, rebolo/tan tan, surdo, cuica, reco reco, tamborim, zabumba and batucada instruments like timbao or dobra. And for flamenco tradition you can learn cajón, but also if you are interested the different partterns of the palmas.

All my lessons are prepared for the student, so depending on you, we'll set up the lessons. But here you have the specific points I find more important:

- Technical basis: the technique is essencial to be a good percussionist.
- Music theory: it can help you to read the scores or to understand the music.
- Different rhythms, patterns and styles: latin, brazilian and flamenco are a huge diverse world of music that we will discover in our lessons.
- Music accompaniment: we'll learn the role of percussion as the base of a band.
