Improve your understanding of Asian philosophy with a graduate student!

I will start you off with the development of Buddhism and Hinduism in India, and branch out towards the development of Confucianism in China. I will help you develop an understanding of Japanese Zen, and the relationship that Japan has had with its combination of religions. I've tutored many in the development of religions and philosophies, and it is important that both are intermingled within Asia. I help foster a safe environment to ask questions and become further enlightened within this subject.
Let us work together to unpack biases, and develop a better understanding of Asian Philosophy.
This is a Asian Philosophy 101 course so no prior knowledge is needed.

Experience / Qualifications

4 years of private tutoring at Sierra College and Sacramento State University
Currently working as a Research Assistant analyzing migration patterns of South Koreans due to displacement during the Korean War.
Currently working as Teachers Assistant that provides after class tutoring to 200 students.
Experienced personal tutor and teacher of 2 years, specializing in the adults who want to improve their comprehension of topics! All ages welcome, as I can make things fun and friendly while ensuring results. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student- want to ace an exam? Want to communicate with family members? Want to talk to that person in class? Or do you just feel like you don't understand some topics and need review? I can answer any question you have, and will be happy to assist with homework or other tasks to ensure you can catch up in courses, or get the generalized support you deserve. Our goal is to communicate- I want to communicate with you! Lets set goals and start talking now!
Over the course of my college career I was devoted to learning about how religion manifests within Asia. So many things seem to be philosophies rather than religions- is there a difference? Let us learn about it together! I have taken over 10 religious studies courses of my own volition, and have tutored religious studies to several college students after gaining my degree. I can break Hinduism down- what is atman? Who are the gods? Are there several sects? Who was important to the movement of religious tolerance in India? How has this affected the development of the country? I can explain the spread of Buddhism as well as the messages behind it. I plan to explain the story of Siddhartha and how it caused a ripple effect. Taoism, Shintoism, Islam and folklore will be delved into. The growth of Christianity within Korea, and China may also be explored if the student finds interest in the topic. My main concern is to explain religions across Japan, Korea, China, and India, but that is not to say that the religions have not touched the entire world. This is through the lens of Asia, but it can be applied to understand religious growth within the U.S. as well. No question is too small, let us conquer one of the hardest concepts together!
The history of Korea, Japan, and China are rich and intermingled. With my Magna Cum Laude Bachelors in Asian Studies focusing on Japan I can teach you about Japanese art, language, architecture, philosophy, religion, economics, development, and generalized history. I am currently working as an assistant to a Sacramento State Professor conducting research into migration patterns of South Koreans displaced by the Korean War. I can teach you about the development of Korea- about the K-wave, and the subsequent relationship they have had with Japan. I also am working as a teaching assistant and auditing courses to explain North Korea's sociology. Learning about Japan and Korea would not be complete by understanding the philosophies passed on from China. The development of the worlds current largest economy powerhouse has influenced every country in the world. China developing Africa is a recent interest of mine as it is a new form of colonialism. I can teach you about ancient East Asia, and I can teach you where it is believe the countries are heading.
My biggest fear when I started Japanese was making mistakes and being teased by others. It happened a lot, but I continued to pursue Japanese for the last 8 years of my life. I know what its like to make mistakes, and I know how nerve-wracking it is to try to do something new. I want to help you in the basics as I feel confident I can teach you how to read, write, and apply basic Japanese to your everyday life. I can teach you tips, tricks, and give you the insider scoop on how to prevail and become a proud student of the Japanese language. Even if you have not even googled how to do Japanese I can start you at the absolute basics. Lets learn together, and I can tell you about my experience abroad!

Living philosophy session for children and adults
Trained in literary preparatory classes, then in a master's degree in Philosophy of Art at La Sorbonne, I passed the oral and written tests of CAPES in 2016. Since then, I have continued to support students of all ages, online and in person, keen to let students' own thoughts express themselves by giving them the methodological keys and references that enrich their initial intuition. In line with the Greek philosophical schools, philosophy sessions are done in the form of a dialogue, maintaining the mind in a dynamic and interpersonal attitude. Philosophy is very much alive and it is my joy to share it with my students!

Julien
Teacher-researcher at the university (United States) gives courses in French as a foreign language (FLE) and philosophy.
My passion for teaching has led me to study different languages and teach my mother tongue, French, for many years. Originally from Paris, I currently teach, and have done for several years, French as a foreign language in an American University (R1 - Top 25 US News ranking). I also carry out research work there on the philosophy of language which, combined with the various training courses followed in this prestigious establishment, has allowed me to acquire solid experience in teaching French (from A1 to C2, Cadre common European reference for languages). Today, I support students in their mastery of the language in an efficient manner and by adapting to the deadlines imposed on them in achieving their objectives. Thus, many of them who started learning French with me were admitted to prestigious French-speaking university programs (La Sorbonne, Sciences Po, Fulbright...). My teaching is focused on a 360 approach, taking into consideration the most recent studies on the acquisition of foreign languages and innovative teaching techniques. It is based on an immersive and multimedia method (podcasts, series, films, newspapers, etc.). My classes are done entirely in French and in a progressive manner, adapting to each person's rhythms. The main thing for me is to take into consideration the requests of my students, to listen to their needs and their desires. I pay particular attention to the specificities of learning necessary for each person; the emphasis may be placed on orality, visual aspect and/or grammar. In short, I design tailor-made courses to ensure that you achieve your objectives and discover the richness of French-speaking cultures! Philosophy course My training as a philosopher (La Sorbonne; Sciences Po), and my passion for this discipline have also allowed me to give philosophy courses for 10 years already. My teaching focuses on one of the aspects sometimes neglected when preparing for the baccalaureate or university exams: methodology. Methodological questions allow students to obtain the grades they desire. The transmission of my passion for this discipline, through the exploration of the interests of my students, makes my teaching come alive. Philosophy is everywhere: we will therefore base ourselves on your passions to nourish your dissertations and make your learning more fulfilling. Together we will explore the beauty of philosophy so that you can fully enjoy it!
