Ciao, ik ben Alessandro. Ik ben 33 jaar, woon in Leiden en kom oorspronkelijk uit Milaan. Ik ben taalkundige, afgestudeerd in Leiden, en geef al 9 jaar Italiaanse les. I studied languages and literature in Milan and completed a Research Master in Linguistics at Leiden University. My studies focused on how languages really work and how people actually learn them. This academic background allows me to explain Italian clearly, calmly, and logically—without stress, confusion, or boring theory.

- I'm a professional Italian teacher from Italy, now living between Pisa and Rome. I have 10 years of teaching experience. I am very patient and I love to make a relaxed and friendly class environment. I have qualifications and experience teaching at different levels and in different contexts. As an Italian Opera singer, I help since many years singers with the right pronunciation of the repertoire they sing, helping them in shaping the language in a clear way, which also helps the singing.

Our lesson will involve speaking, pronunciation exercises and singing.
We will start the lesson by reading the text and finding the right direction and emphasis.
We will focus on the sounds and how to produce them.
In the second part of the lesson, we will apply all of the above to the singing!

I teach for all levels, from very beginners to advanced speakers, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I can also help with university exams and school works/assignments.
Being a pianist and a piano teacher, I already have lots of experience with teaching and pedagogical approach with the whole range of ages.

The lesson is intended to meet the student needs: the focus can be on the grammar, conversation or literature. In case of a middle-level speaker, the lesson will cover all four language's abilities: listening, speaking, writing and reading. If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts. If the students do not feel comfortable using Italian from scratch, I can switch to English, German, or Dutch. The course fee includes the correction of home assignments.

Through my experience as a secondary school teacher, I have come to realise that the acquirement of a language goes
beyond just having another skill.

Languages give students an opportunity to understand another culture and build respect and awareness as an individual. Equally, being an individual who enjoys immersing themselves in other cultures, I believe it is extremely beneficial to make use of out of classroom learning experiences, especially in language learning.

I look at creating engaging and interactive lessons in which students are consistently exposed to the spoken language to promote their confidence and create a safe environment in which they can explore the language without fear.
