This course is about building characters through makeup. Learning how to design, not just apply. You’ll develop strong technique while exploring how makeup connects to performance, costume, lighting, and storytelling. We’ll work from the full picture down to the smallest detail.

What we’ll cover:

Core makeup techniques (from beginner to advanced)
Product knowledge: how to choose what actually works
Skin prep, hygiene, and professional practice
Color matching and facial structure
Theatrical makeup for stage and performance
How lighting and costume affect your design
Creating characters through makeup
Designing looks based on prompts with clear intention

This is a hands-on, creative space! You’ll experiment, take risks, and build looks that mean something. Not just look good. All levels welcome. Whether you’re starting from zero or want to push your artistry further, you’ll leave with stronger skills and a clearer creative voice.

Students are expected to have their own kit:
Skin/base makeup (foundation and/or concealer)
Eyeliner pencil or stick
Glue stick (for brows / texture work)
Setting powder
Face paints and/or a colorful eyeshadow palette

No need for high-end products. Just tools you’re ready to experiment with!
