Photonic Circuit Design I: Basic Methods and Applications

Photonic Circuit Design is currently surfacing as the most prominent candidate for beyond-Moore circuit design paradigms. In this course, we will cover the basic laws of Electromagnetics, Optics, Optical Resonators, Waveguide analyses, Effective Index Method (EIM), Coupled Mode Theory (CMT), and Eigenmode Expansion Method (EME). In light of these methods, we will cover Y-branches and Mach-Zehnder Interferometers (MZM).
