Maths doesn’t have to be a slog! My lessons are student orientated, as someone who constantly experienced challenges and slow days when learning. Personable and charismatic, my goal is to create a fun learning environment where maths comes as a second nature to students who previously struggle. Ranging from early primary school level to Scottish Higher and Advanced Higher level, I will commit students to learning either focused topics, or comprehensive course-wide studies. Présentation

Confident, charismatic and compassionate. I have worked with kids for a great portion of my teenage years, as a leader in Gordonstoun International Summer School, and in my own school in Glasgow. I have a keen eye for maths and an ability to express strategies and tricks to improve and consolidate learning. Growing up in schools, I found maths quite challenging at times but it was thanks to teachers and tutors that I succeeded and tutoring is a way of paying that favour on.

Education

Currently in my 2nd year of studying Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh, and previously attended Mearns Castle High School in Glasgow. Whether it was 1 to 1 tutoring or full, in-class help, teachers where very grateful when I volunteered to teach their students and were impressed with their growth in ability and confidence.

Expérience / Qualifications

8 National 5s, 5 Highers and 3 Advanced Highers at A standard. Tutored in classes during my final year in school and was praised for my light-hearted approach to learning.

With nearly 20 years of classroom experience as a qualified primary school teacher and almost 30 years as a dedicated personal tutor, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to every lesson. I tailor my teaching to suit your child's unique abilities and pace, ensuring that each session is both fun and engaging. My goal is to help your child reach their full potential and build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

In reading, we delve into comprehension, encouraging your child to read "beyond the text" and grasp not just the words, but the deeper meanings and the author's intent.

In Maths, we cover the fundamentals of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, while also fostering problem-solving skills to apply their knowledge in various contexts.
