Mijn focus ligt vooral op het houden van een conversatie in het Mandarijns-Chinees. Ik ben tweetalig opgevoed dus mijn Chinese uitspraak is even goed als mijn Nederlandse. Mijn familie komt uit Beijing, vandaar dat mijn accent 'zuiver' is. Een omschrijving van de les is vooral het houden van gesprekken in verschillende scenario's; van een sollicitatie tot in een restaurant eten kunnen bestellen. Ook geef ik informatie over de Chinese cultuur en haar manieren/gewoontes. Deze lessen zullen u helpen met het Chinees leren spreken en de vlotheid daarvan.

Ik ben optimistisch en ondersteunend tijdens de les. Geen een moeilijkheid is onbegrijpelijk voor mij. Het is natuurlijk geen makkelijke taal en de les zal op uw niveau/tempo worden gegeven. Communicatie is ook erg belangrijk tijdens de les. Verder zal ik ook het oefenmateriaal verzorgen en afstellen op uw interessegebieden en niveau.

Ik spreek van kleins af aan al Chinees/Mandarijns thuis met mijn moeder. Daarnaast heb ik op jonge leeftijd en in 2018 een tijdje in Beijing gewoond. Ook ben ik elk jaar op familiebezoek gegaan in Beijing en spreek daar dan natuurlijk ook Chinees. Mijn accent/dialect komt dus ook daarvandaan.

I specialise in teaching Chinese and Japanese to students of all ages and abilities. For both of these languages, my pronunciation, grammar and fluency are at a near native level, and my students benefit from my ability to explain concepts in English.

I am a creative teacher, however I do not shy away from traditional approaches to teaching, and as a teacher of languages, I particularly enjoy teaching grammar and pronunciation and have developed a thorough approach to each of these, along with all other aspects of language-learning. I have considerable experience devising and implementing my own syllabi (something I also greatly enjoy!) to cater for the diverse needs of my students - particularly younger learners.

The exact format for my classes therefore differs from student to student: some prefer to focus solely on speaking and listening; others (schoolchildren for instance) study more writing and translation. A typical syllabus followed could include the following on a weekly or fortnightly basis:

pronunciation training; writing practice; focussed work on grammar and grammatical structures; reading exercises; conversational role-play; vocabulary testing; essays on history and culture
