Do you want to play the harpsichord, basso continuo, or piano? I am a professional harpsichordist, concert performer a​nd teacher based in The Hague who was working in a Conservatory and many music schools during my studies. We can make a flexible schedule depending on your plans.

It doesn't matter what level you have, how old you are or which reason you have to learn music. My lessons are adjusted to everybody's level and age. I like to encourage curiosity and I adapt the lessons to the student's interests and needs by offering knowledge in a personalized and structured way. The pillars of my teaching are patience and kindness. About me: My name is Uma and I come from Spain. I have lived in the Hague since two years ago. I did my first bachelor in modern flute in Madrid (RCSMM), graduated from my master in Zürich (ZHdK) and am currently doing a bachelor in Historical Informed Performance Practice (HIPP) on historical flutes at the Koninklijk Conservatorium den Haag. I have more than 10 years of teaching experience, and I keep learning and educating myself pedagogically in order to find the best balance and way to teach for my students. I'm offering productive music lessons in a friendly environment. I'll guide your development from any level. I treat every student as an individual, and I adapt my approach accordingly - whether making music is your hobby or you have rather serious plans with it. Depending on what you aim for, I'll choose nice pieces/songs and interesting exercises. I always care about leaving my students with the necessary tools for practice on their own when I'm not around to guide them. You'll learn a stable intonation, and develop your rhythmical sense, musical interpretation, good posture, and apparatus that works for you individually. Together we can go not only for classical but also pop, rock or film music. What you might also enjoy during the lesson is playing together in a duo with me - so you can experience making music with another person, which is super fun! There is many fantastic advantages to learning music, such as the growth of your musical taste and artistic sensitivity, and as even science proves - enhancement of your brain capacity. With over 15 years of teaching experience, I offer private guitar lessons in many styles for all ages and all levels. I am also an active performer, mostly performing my own singer-songwriter music in the folk-rock genre. Classes are offered in English, Dutch and German. I am from Los Angeles originally where I received my degree in music with a minor in Classical Guitar from California State University, Northridge. I have been playing guitar since I was 11 years old. Back in those days, I was mostly inspired by rock music, learning to play by ear by listening to the radio. Later, I went to Conservatory and studied classical music, therefore learning in a more structured way. This gives me a unique approach to teaching, because I understand playing by ear and feeling, as well as having a background in music theory. It is a mix of these two worlds that I offer in my lessons. In this way, my students progress quickly while having a basis of how music works so that they can continue to grow for endless years to come. My approach to teaching is to get lasting results for the students and to make sure they have a great time. The lessons are light and joyful, as music should be. I work hard to make sure my students experience the rewards of reaching new plateaus regularly as they progress. It is also important to me that my students play songs/pieces that they enjoy playing. We will discuss your musical tastes, or work to discover the musical tastes of your child. Piano Lessons in The Hague Learning to play the piano is not only an incredibly useful skill but also an enjoyable and fulfilling process. I take a lot of time on the basics as there is always a lot to learn and take in. I use a variety of beginner method books and resources to help you build your confidence in understanding the piano itself, developing your coordination skills, learning to understand the musical notes on the page, developing your musical ear, and understanding basic music theory. Jazz - Pop - Classical After having covered the basics of piano playing, theory, and reading skills, many of my students move on to playing classical, jazz, blues, or pop pieces, practicing scales and finger exercises as well as further strengthening their sight-reading skills. Improvising Or if you perhaps wish to get away from notes written down on the page I can help you develop your own creativity by understanding theory and applying it to chordal playing, composing and improvising, and playing by ear. Practical Lessons From the age of 12, I had classical piano lessons and have always studied the piano as a secondary instrument to the trumpet. I continue to play piano as a hobby and during my studies at the conservatory, I developed an interest in jazz piano playing. You can therefore feel confident that no matter what your interest may be (perhaps you haven't figured this one out yet), I can give you high-quality fun, and enjoyable training in your own interests. No Piano yet? There are a lot of options and things to consider when working out how to get hold of or buy a keyboard/piano which can be confusing and sometimes stressful! I am happy to give advice to ensure the choice you make is right for you. Online Lessons For the last couple of years, I have been teaching lots of students online. Many have found this way not only to be very suitable but actually their preferred style of learning. Sometimes nothing can be better and simpler than learning in the comfort of your own home. As a teacher, I often find the best solution is a mix of both online and live lessons. We can experiment and find the best solution for you. Lesson Location I live in The Hague and teach from my apartment on a Yamaha Acoustic Upright and Electric piano. I'm pretty flexible, so if you're pushed for time or need to work out a better solution, I am happy to travel to another location close by if it's convenient! I am a composer and pianist and I give piano lessons to kids and adults of a wide range of levels! In my classes, my goal is to approach piano playing in a holistic way, starting with a healthy posture, but also musical expression. We will work on memory, on the dependency of each hand and finger, integrating in every lesson the music theory and singing along with exercises on rhythm (TAKADIMI system of rhythm solfege) and last but not least, creation (through improvisation and other creative tasks) which will offer you the possibility to craft and master in a deeper level your piano skills. The present course is tutored by a Classical Singer and a Classical Pianist, both study connected to the Royal Conservatory Den Haag. It is preferred to work weekly to optimize results. The singing, and main teacher, is always present to assure the vocal progression. The piano coach will be present as often as requested by the student/advised by the teacher. The pupils will then have the best piano accompaniment. The main objective of the course is to work accordingly with the student's goals to give a well-driven direction to our study. The course it's thought with classic technical basics (healthy vocal benefits) but other styles can be added like the musical, jazz, cabaret, etc... Each case will have a personalized answer.
