I always thought about how the ancient Greeks introduced Music as an essential subject in school. Music was to heal, to entertain, to get to know yourself more. I'm just finished my studies in the University of Arts of Codarts (Rotterdam) and I can't deny I will always keep learning after finishing my degree. I'm looking forward to sharing some knowledge and to hear what you already know. What can I offer? Styles that we can work on: Classical, Folk, Jazz, Pop music. Languages that we can speak in the lesson: Dutch, English, Catalan or/and Spanish Skills that we can work on: basic techniques, jazz and folk techniques, play the cello while singing, percussion on the cello. How do I work? Each class will be individually prepared, in order to have the student goals in mind. In our first lesson we can get to know each other and then we will figure out what do you want and how can I help you. For BEGINNERS I teach the bow, finger positions and other basics with easy songs (with kids I add games to make it more entreating). Such as relating painting with playing, dancing with playing or literature with playing. For AVERAGE LEVEL we explore, with already some technique, how to play songs, finding a good sound and feel at ease with the instrument. Additional Activities: Once a month I plan a rehearsal with pianist to work on some repertoire of cello and piano. Meetings with other students are also arranged to play duos together. Do they have an issue with staying focused for prolonged periods of time, or do they simply not enjoy the subject at all? My name is Farris, and I am currently a 3rd-year Aerospace Engineering student studying at TU Delft. I have a strong international background, having lived most of my life outside the Netherlands and at international schools. Upon completing my secondary education at The International School of The Hague in 2020, I began tutoring students from the school who struggled with mathematics and physics and have been doing so ever since. My tutoring sessions often follow quite an unorthodox approach. As a younger student myself, I struggled massively with mathematics and physics at a younger age, mostly due to issues with focusing and understanding, as well as being diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Over the years I developed methods of dealing with such issues, and it is those methods that I use in my tutoring sessions to help students progress in their academics. I live near the Rotterdam Centrum area. Tutoring sessions can happen at my house, at public locations (Rotterdam Central Library), at the home of the student (depending on location), or online on a call. If a student is hesitant to learn one-on-one, or has a friend/classmate whom would also like to be tutored, dual sessions can take place whereby both students are tutored simultaneously. During her study at Codarts she learned playing Baglama in Turkish department. When I teach, apart from teaching the technique of the instrument is so important to me, I also help them to understand and have more awareness about music and be able to perform all their musical ideas in a successful way. I analyze the student in order to choose which is the best approach in order to motivate him or her. Tar To become a professional Tar player is important for me to have a good technique. I teach all different schools of Tar players by giving repertories and etudes. I also teach about Dastgahi music and in advance level how to improvise based on Dastgahi and Modal music. Setar As this instrument is so delicate is important for me to be aware about every notes you play and in order to reach this point you learn from me proper technique. I teach you Dastgahi music by playing Radif Dastgahi. In advance level we also play together more to learn improvisation. Tanbour As a performer of Tanbour, Sonority is so important to touch the ear. I teach you unique techniques of tanbour with my own method. By playing different compositions and etudes you learn Makams of Tanbour. In the advance level I mostly concentrate on improvisation. Baglama I teach you the basic techniques of this instrument and we play together different repertories of regions in Turkey consist of Anatolian music and Ottoman Music.
