Learning an instrument is not only a skill, but a lifetime enjoyment. The need to express emotions or let loose some inner tension, an instrument is the perfect tool. Music sings the sound of the soul, and the cello is the perfect instrument. Having played the cello for 18 years, i can say that music is a must for a happy life. It is the universal language. Dont be afraid to take that first step :)
