I’m Kurt, based in Munich. I teach Mandarin Chinese and Japanese with a linguistic background. Find learning an exotic, Asian language cool but don't know where to get started with? Or are you already been frustrated by them: why Japanese drops the subject all the time? Why Chinese has no past tense while you still know when it happened? And more importantly, while Pinyin or Hiragana seems sufficient for writing the language, why do I have to learn the stupid Hanzi or Kanji at all? I got you. We start speaking ‘why the hell does the language work like that’ starting from the first minute, maximum actual talking and laughing.

About Me

I will make a customized study plans for every one of you. Bring your curiosity to the class, because it can't be bored. The textbooks that I'm familiar with are Marugoto (Japanese), Genki (Japanese), New Practical Chinese Reader (Chinese), but other textbooks are also available, if preferred. Besides the textbooks, useful, original handouts will be sent every class.

I have been giving chinese lessons for more than 10 years. Before that, I was a radio broadcaster and a journalist in China, hence I have a perfect pronunciation of the official mandarin, without any accent. It provides my students the best conditions to learn chinese, as the tone you give to words when you speak chinese as a foreigner is of great importance if you want to be understood by natives.
