Tutoring in English Literature and Language GCSEs and SATs

Hello! I have just completed my A-levels (predicted A*, A, A) at Stoke Newington School and Sixth Form, and I'd like to tutor GCSE and SAT students in English Literature and Language (my favourite subject) during my gap year. I have experience working with children and teenagers as a qualified assistant swimming instructor, as well as helping my younger brother improve and maintain his grades. I have also worked with children with special needs.

My teaching methodology emphasises positive reinforcement and planning. I break down the syllabus into manageable chunks, and make sure to explain new concepts as simply as possible. The GCSE English curriculum may appear daunting, but I promise to demystify it. As a level 9 (A**) student, I know what is required to achieve top marks. My main priority is helping all of my students to achieve their full potential.

I love the French language and pass this on to my students when I teach. Lots of speaking, listening to everyday conversations in various contexts, French songs, practising grammar and new vocabulary. Suitable for school children or adults.
English as a second language is another speciality of mine. I make my lessons interesting and fun. Speaking is the most important part but also writing notes as it is easier to remember afterwards. For people wanting to use french in everyday situations, I propose the communicative approach, focus on communication rather than grammar structures. This approach takes the focus off the language by stressing the content. The idea is to communicate fluently.
(If you were to learn how to repair a bicycle, for example, you would learn bike vocab then would then be able to communicate in French by using the relevant vocabulary and conveying their feelings, ideas and thoughts.)

For students wanting to learn French in a more literate approach, I propose analytic lectures of French classics, or any desired text. This can help for more elaborate grammatical structures and thorough vocabulary.
