After years of study and professional activity linked to music, I discovered that the boundaries between different musical genres is a mirage: there are more things in common between hip-hop, for example, and classical music than there are differences.

That is why I offer lessons in harmony, structure and musical forms and composition adapted to any concern and interest. All levels. All ages.

Clarinet is one of the most versatile and coolest instruments that ever existed: classical music, jazz, folk music around the world, just name it! After years of training, studying and professional activity, I learned you have to be versatile in different styles.

I offer clarinet and bass clarinet lessons in any style you'd like to learn: clarinet technique itself, classical clarinet and/ how to apply music theory to your performance skills, jazz improvisation... I'll be very happy to help you to find out your voice and language through the instrument through a very creative and transversal methodology.

My experience in teaching, orchestral performance, solo performance and chamber music performance is huge. If you want to know me more don't hesitate to ask for my CV or media. I also have a solid experience in Alexander Technique which I apply to my performance skills and my lessons.

Are you a beginner?? No worries: no experience is required! 😁
I can teach you the basics to produce sounds with your saxophone: position of the embouchure (teeth, tongue, lips and vocal cords' position, an element often forgotten), fingerings, use of diafragma,...
After the first two lessons spent on the mouthpiece and neck for the sound production, we will immediately start to play some super easy duos together to practice your capacity of listening, pay attention to the other, ear training as well. I normally use the book of Peter Wastall (titled Learn as you play) as support, but it is not mandatory. There are plenty of good books btw!

Are you an intermediate / advanced student?? I am sure you can still improve in all the basics, but on a different level. I'll teach you the importance of the "voicing" (technique named by the american saxophonist and pedagogue Donald Sinta) to improve your sound production and projection as well as the capacity of correcting and improving the intonation. You can learn all about phrasing and music interpretation, from tonal music until contemporary atonal compositions. And still, you can improve your playing together, practicing in duo on different aspects like tuning, balance, interpretation, performance etc.

Lessons in piano, harpsichord, and historical and modern cello, with program and repertoire, adapted to the goals and speed of each student, whether young, not so young, or adult, for a general introduction to these instruments, for preparation for high music education, as a supplementary aid for exams in music academies, or for a hobby, or for amateur group music-making, or for developing qualities as concentration, coordination, discipline, expressibility, awareness of styles and music history.
In my teaching, I rely mostly on old traditional methods, books, and repertoire, which have proved their efficiency over the time. I also make use of the teaching tradition of partimenti of the old Neapolitan conservatories - exercises for composing that can be applied from early stage. This not only adds a creative element soon after very beginning, but also teaches via practice the basics of harmony and polyphony.
Lessons can be combined (+30min.) with theory/solfege (ear training), if the student wishes.

I have been teaching for more than 15 years, privately, in Brussels, and in New York in the past, more than 100 students.
