Hello there, my name is Mary and I am a recent graduate of Leiden University with an MA in International Relations. Regarding my background, I am a native English speaker due to my upbringing in the United States and I received an excellent 6/7 grade in my English A HL course with an IB diploma in high school.

I am eager to teach English to any learner and I have previous experience teaching English as a volunteer. With my lessons, I will utilize a variety of tools to comprehensively improve the student’s grammar, spelling, and vocabulary. Furthermore, I am able to work with all age groups, including young children and adults. Based on the student's question, I discuss the grammatical or idiomatic problem and practice the applications with him / her. I read pieces of text with the student (e) and enter conversations in the relevant language. Depending on the problem, I also link back to earlier material because something has often gone wrong. I also look primarily at daily practical applicability of the substance.

Nowadays a good command of English is useful and often even necessary. We come in contact with the language almost everywhere, in school, on television, the internet, in conversations.

As a native German speaker I once had to learn the language as well and I know how challenging it can be. I already majored in English at school. After school, I went to a language school in the United States in order to prepare for the TOEFL language certificate. Thereafter I started a bachelor program which was held entirely in English. During my studies I learnt a lot about academic writing practices.
Often, the lessons in school focus on grammar and vocabulary failing to to convey a basic understanding of the language. Conversation and writing fall short as well.

I am offering lessons for children and teenagers. My goal is to support their learning experience in an engaging way. We will discuss what you need and how I can help you. Be it a basic introduction, grammar or conversational training. I also offer proofreading.

Lessons can also be taught via Skype.

My student-centred, needs-based classes are exclusively aimed at committed advanced teenagers and young adults who wish to improve their EN language skills and excel. Having started teaching when I was 15 (seriously!), I take pride in knowing what students want and need, relating to them and meeting, if not exceeding, their expectations.
I have taught in Greece, Spain and the UK in a British Council-accredited school. Along with my 15-year experience, I have obtained CELTA and have also acquired a Postgraduate (Level 7) Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (DipTESOL). I specialise in teaching Levels B2 to C2, including Cambridge exam classes (IELTS, FCE, CAE) because I love challenges. Do you?

Math: I teach based on needs of students, mainly elementary, middle school and IB math, help with homework and helping students get additional help to meet their study goals. I teach English at any levels, focus on communication, grammar and enriching vocabulary.

I motivate, encourage and guide people in learning and finding solutions to achieve their own goals in an efficient and focused way.

Due to my broad experience and high general level of knowledge, in addition to pedagogical / didactic support, I can also provide extra lessons in all alpha subjects of secondary education and guidance of students in the preparation of
exams and writing theses.

From French parents, I followed all my education in the French system abroad and I speak French fluently.
In these support courses which can be academic or simply an aid to the deepening of the language, I will bring my personal culture and my recent readings which will also allow the student to discover another facet of French literature. In addition, these courses are also open to those who simply want to learn French.

My teaching methods vary from client to client and depend on their current language skills; writing essay type reports for school, reading and understanding the book all your friends talk about, or just to be able to have a fluent conversation, whatever the problem we can work through it together.

I immerse myself in the material that a student has difficulty with, in this case a language and/or a math problem. It is true that I am currently guiding a girl from secondary education with beginners French and German.
But the majority of my tutoring children come from groups 6, 7 and 8 of primary school.
