Piano classes for beginner/ intermediate in English

Considered “Best Colombian Young Pianist 2018” after winning the first prize in the national piano competition in Colombia. I have a Master's degree from Liszt Ferenc in Budapest, Hungary, and a Master's degree from Columbus State University in the United States. Besides my career as a pianist, I have over 10 years of experience in teaching Piano, music theory, and history for all ages and categories. Even if you are a beginner we can make it! I have a personal method where I combine both classical and commercial repertoire depending on the student’s preferences. I usually play four hands with my students as well and organize at least one concert a year with all my students where they can meet and share their experiences. If you are an enthusiast about piano competitions, we can also work on that together. I will guide and support you through all the steps of the learning experience.

I teach Entry level, Beginner, and Intermediate Piano and Guitar lessons. I focus on different styles, techniques, and rhythms, with a broad base of musical genre. These classes are designed for aspiring musicians with some musical background and also those with little or none. The aim of each lesson is to keep the student at the peak of each of their abilities by giving both challenging new pieces and reinforcing and expanding their own musical knowledge. I also put some emphasis on incorporating students' own personal musical tastes and styles to bring their own passion to the music they want to play.

The most important matter that I could write here about is my passion to teach. I've been teaching already for more than 10 years, from kids to adults. I'm a classical pianist, but I am opened to other musical styles. What I want you to get from your lessons with me, is not only a huge knowledge of theorical stuff or a great technique, I would like to show you my musical world, the imagination and inner exploration that is required to understand and to love music in a whole new level. Once you have found them, it will be very hard to quit playing! The class duration: You can choose! 20 minutes (Great for the youngest : 3 years old) 30 minutes (Ideal for young beginners from 4 years old) 45 minutes (Intermediate+ adult beginners) 1 hour (Intermediate and combined with some Music Theory) I use different methods depending on: 1) The goals of my student 2) The language that we will use on class 3) Age and musical preferences: I start to teach children from 3 years old, we make games and they learn to play through musical stories that I have created throughout my pedagogical career.

I can teach viola classes at all levels, and violin to students up to the sixth of Professional Grade. I can also teach music theory at all levels and support the study of other subjects taught at the conservatory, such as music history, analysis, orchestra, chamber music, etc. I believe that the teacher must be able to adapt a lot to the student, and especially in music I find it very important to understand the sensitivity and difficulties of each student. I consider myself a demanding person, but very empathetic and patient. It is very important to me, apart from all the factors that affect the performance, to emphasize the care of the posture and the tensions of the body to avoid injuries that can be caused by playing the viola or the violin.

I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

My teaching method is scrupulously adapted to each student I have, regardless of the subject to work on (musical language, cello, music history, analysis, conducting, etc.) I always apply the Belgian teaching model, where I trained with my master's degrees in Conducting (Antwerp) and Historical Cello (Brussels). According to this model, the main thing is a living and practical teaching, taking understanding and not memory as the main learning engine.

I graduated from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with distinction of my Master degree. I am a highly experienced and creative tutor who enjoys teaching all levels. I design lesson-plans depending on different levels, interests, and abilities in tailoring each lesson to my student's individual needs. More than 10 years teaching experiences, used to be Piano/ Music Theory/ Aural-training/ Sight-reading teacher at Music school in London. Hello, My name is Louana, I am 28 years old and am currently a piano teacher for students ranging from 4 to 65 years old. Indeed, I started very young music with first 2 years of rhythm then 5 years of Solfege Jacques-Dalcroze and finally 12 years of piano including 10 at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva. (each year of study being validated by exams & diplomas) Today I continue to play for fun and give some of my time to teach a few students once a week. Class sessions are generally 45 minutes to 1 hour as proposed by the Conservatory. I teach with my old scores which allows a gradual evolution step by step. Obviously, I remain attentive to everyone's wishes, but I particularly teach classical music because in my opinion, these are the best bases allowing you to play what you want. As an experienced violinist and a violin teacher, I offer violin lessons for students in every age and level of advancement. During our lessons, I will help you discover the beautiful and magical side of this instrument. BEGINNERS If you are a beginner, I will teach you some basic violin and music skills. In the first lessons, we will do simple exercises to teach you how to hold the violin and the bow in the correct and relaxed way. In the lessons, you will also learn some basic theory, reading music, and basic rhythms. From the beginning, you will be playing some nice, simple tunes and violin duets. The lessons are held in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. ADVANCED STUDENTS In our first lesson, we will talk about students’ needs expectations, and level of abilities and choose the right repertoire for you. If you need some help with music theory – I can also help you with pleasure! Lessons are available in English, Polish and basic Dutch (level A2) and take place in the heart of the Rotterdam City-Center!
