Creative Chinese Calligraphy One to One class in Richmond

Find out about the ancient craft of Chinese calligraphy and make your own couplet, paper fan, and lantern with authentic tools using Chinese rice paper, calligraphy brushes, and ink. To learn basic Chinese calligraphy strokes one by one and practice writing numbers and speaking basic Chinese mandarin. You will learn about traditional Chinese culture, discover a new language, and using traditional art materials.

My name is Mengqi He, I specialise in Creative Chinese calligraphy, my artistic practice has involved creative calligraphy art workshops and interactive performance, with focus on 禅 （zen）and human connections, transcending cultural and language barriers.
In 2020, I was selected as one of the artists in Oracles in Sepia; with Compass Presents, to use Chinese Calligraphy and visual arts to tell stories set during the pandemic in Wuhan. My calligraphy work and performance has been shown at the Helsinki International Festival (2015), Venice Its Liquid Contemporary (2017), 508 Gallery London (2018) and G&C gallery in Tunbridge Wells (2019).

I have done several Chinese calligraphy workshops and private teaching in the UK with kids and adults at Watermans in Brentford (Hounslow Arts Limit) 508 Gallery in London (2018) and G&C gallery in Tunbridge Wells (2019).
