My lessons are a combination of practice and theory so you will not only learn how to play a chord or a song, but you will also understand how chords and scales are related to each other.
I'm experienced in teaching kids and adults, I hold an enhanced DBS check, and I can also help you out if you are looking to attend a grade examination.
To keep you from getting bored, I strive to make my lessons fun and interactive as I always provide bespoke studying materials. They are personalized to fit your needs – whether you’ve just recently picked up a guitar, you are on a more advanced level, or you simply need more inspiration and motivation to develop your existing skills. I have a YouTube channel and offer video tutorials for some of the topics we will cover. I love teaching and my greatest reward is to hear you play great music and see you achieve your goals!

Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, all the way back to Cagliari, Italy, where I was born and raised. During these formative years, alongside studying classical guitar, private tuition in jazz guitar particularly fuelled my passion for modern styles, with the music of Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Led Zeppelin, and Pat Metheny providing a window to the fascinating world of rock, jazz, and blues.

Nowadays, as a freelance session guitarist and guitar tutor, I have a wealth of experience in live music, studio recording, session playing, and songwriting and enjoy the versatility and creativity of working across a wide range of genres, from pop and blues to acoustic folk and rock.

As a guitar teacher, I have been catering to beginners as well as those at an intermediate level and beyond.
My lessons are a combination of practice and theory so the student will not only learn how to play a chord or a song, but he/she will also understand how chords and scales work together.

BIOGRAPHY:

Juan was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the age of nine he started teaching himself how to play guitar, bass, keyboards and drums; before joining local bands and performing around the country.

After studying sound engineering at the Universidad Nacional de Lanús, he worked as a live sound engineer and separately on a number of music productions in his home studio. He also trained as a luthier/guitar technician, building and repairing stringed instruments alongside his father, using his surname as a brand.

In 2014 Juan moved to London to develop his skills and connections. His passion and commitment to music led him to working at guitar repair workshops around the capital city, including Camden Town and the well-known Denmark Street. He repaired guitars for artists like the legendary Jarvis Cocker (Pulp), Mercury Prize-winner Michael Kiwanuka, Grammy-winners Mumford & Sons, and King Krule. He later taught Brit Award-winners Bastille how to play the traditional rhythms of his home country.

In 2017, Juan started composing a wide range of music genres for all kinds of audio-visual media productions, including advertising campaigns for: Samsung, Coca-Cola, MasterCard, Nesquik, Avon and Breil

At the same time, he played with a host of different bands as a guitarist, and busked around town. Juan was hired to work as a guitar technician at Abbey Road on live recording sessions. During this period spent in the studio, mastering engineer Wharton spotted Juan’s potential and encouraged him to focus more of his attention on writing, releasing and performing his own material

I’ve been teaching since I was 22 years old in the same school I was getting my B.A. Degree: MAEurope. My first class ever were a group of 6-years old kids; lucky me ha? Well, they were great! The main challenge of having such a young age class was to keep them entertained and not loose focus. This situation gave me the tools to create my own way of teaching which is usually laid back, fun and not with a “school” approach towards the student. The kids don’t even realize they are learning until they actually get home and know how to play the instrument! Especially with young students. it is important to make the lessons fun and not tedious as this experience sets the way the student will look at the instrument for the rest of their lives: boring classes = boring instrument.
These tools are good for adults too. I won’t use childish games, of course; but the ability to keep the lesson fluent and entertaining is one of my priorities.
