I hold an academic bachelor's degree in Mathematics with distinction and a master's degree in Data Science & Biostatistics with great distinction from Hasselt University. I also have a degree in acting and am a former scout leader (so I have some experience with children). I also worked as a full-time 3rd-grade math teacher for some time. I am currently a PhD candidate in statistics at Hasselt University and teach statistics in various bachelor's programs.

We'll explore the problems in a pleasant, relaxed manner, and I'll focus on guiding students through the material, rather than blindly applying it as quickly as possible. Thanks to my years of experience, I also have plenty of exercises and sample exams available.

I passed the IB with a consistent 7 in English Language and Literature (the highest English course available) and received full marks for most of my assignments. I can help with fundamental concepts, understanding of what is expected to meet the IB's requirements, and how to answer the questions and do the assignments to meet the specific expectations of the IB. I am also available to help with the completion of assignments (in terms of guiding, correcting, and suggestions) and with whatever course work is assigned (including any books that are assigned.)

I provide tutoring and homework support for English. This does not only concern English grammar, spelling and vocabulary, but also reading comprehension, literature and translation theories.

In my lessons I focus entirely on what you need help with. For example, if you would like extra explanation about things you run into, or would like guidance with homework or when preparing a paper, a book summary or a speaking assignment, I would be happy to help you with that!

I keep the classes flexible. For example, these can always be canceled and they do not have to be scheduled with much time in advance. I want to keep my relationship with the student and parents personal, as I am only a student myself.

MY EXPERIENCE
As a native French speaker, I know the beauty and poetry of the language inside and out, and I’m excited to share it with anyone curious to dive in. Since high school, I’ve offered private tutoring to students aged 10 to 17, helping them with everything from grammar worksheets and book reviews to philosophy essays and creative writing assignments.

As for English, I was raised in an international school environment where English was a core part of my education from childhood through high school. I earned my TOEFL certificate before beginning my current bachelor’s studies, which are entirely in English. I've also taught English with a focus on pronunciation, grammar, syntax, and practical communication skills.

TUTORING SET-UP
When tutoring, I place strong emphasis on tracking progress, often by assigning homework (if agreed upon) and creating clear, structured plans to help students stay on track. I have over ten years of experience providing individual tutoring at home in science subjects. I always tailor the content of the tutoring sessions to the students' needs. During the first tutoring session, I focus primarily on getting to know the student and any challenges they encounter, by asking questions about their school situation and observing how they engage with the material. Then, I always focus on explaining the material and, if necessary, offering work methods or even tricks that can help the student complete assignments. By asking the right questions, I then guide the student on the path to solving the assignments, gradually building their confidence. Besides working hard, I always strive to create a relaxed atmosphere.
The most important factor for the success of tutoring is the student's motivation. This requires good cooperation between parents, child, and teacher. Therefore, I often take the time to communicate with parents about the progress of the tutoring and the student's progress.

I always prefer to provide tutoring on a regular basis (e.g. 1 lesson per week).
It is also possible to request one or two lessons as additional support for a test or exam.
For exam students, I can also, if necessary, set up an intensive exam training course over a limited number of weeks.
