About Pericles

Music has been one of the centerpieces of my life yet. I am a professional guitarist and singer/songwriter, born in Athens, Greece and currently residing in Utrecht, the Netherlands. In academia, I have completed Bachelor Jazz & Pop Guitar studies in HKU Utrechts Conservatorium and studied with various teachers around the world, deepening my knowledge in music. In professional life I have performed and toured with various musicians in Europe and Asia, I have taught individual students of all levels and ages, hosted group lessons and lectured seminars of modern and folk music across Europe. I feature a variety of musical styles in my repertoire as a performer with wide live and studio experience, as well as an ability to handle plenty of string instruments, including the bass, ukulele, mandolin, greek bouzouk, as well as the fundamentals in drums, piano and percussion.

About Me

I am Pericles, a greek guitar player and teacher with a great passion for the art of music, performing and teaching it. I lived plenty of active years in the Netherlands and recently moved to Brussels to continue my musical journey. I have played and toured around Europe and Asia with Nani Noam Vazana Trio, recorded albums of fellow artists and original ones to be found on Spotify and Bandcamp and still actively continue to pursue new collaborations and opportunities to share my musical talent further.

Bachelor in Music Performance , Jazz & Pop Guitar , Utrecht Conservatory, graduated in the summer of 2021 with honours.
Notable teachers: George Dumitriu, Erik Rutjes, Marcel Karreman, Thodoris Kotsifas, Frank Rosaly, Mark Alban Lotz among others.

My methodology is simple. Who plays, progresses. Thus, I believe that the best way to progress on the guitar is the direct integration in a group playing context. That is to say, after having reviewed the essential basics of the guitar (main chords, transition from one chord to another, rhythmic, ...), I intend to play with the student and let him express his creativity, let it wake up little by little.

I offer advanced lesson in compositions for students who are already writing would like to improve any aspects of their practice, or to revisit fundamentals and find new ways to develop material. For Guitar:
I work mainly with beginners / improvers, and my approach is to teach the techniques of various artists through learning songs as they were originally played. For fingerpicking this includes for example Nick Drake, Elliott Smith, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, and many more!
