After developing Muscular Tension Dysphonia in 2010 and not singing for almost two years, she overcame this vocal disorder after working with some of the best voice and voice rehabilitation specialists in the UK. This experience further motivated her interest in teaching the following to her students in contemporary voice* using knowledge and training gained by renowned vocal coaches, ENTs and voice rehabilitation specialists: - Vocal technique, health and hygiene - Guidance in voice rehabilitation with students experiencing or recovering from vocal issues - Managing Performance Anxiety - Breath control - Microphone technique and stage performance - Basic music theory - Artist development and mentoring Katherine has over 15 years experience in one-to-one lessons, teaching students aged 4 years old to 50 years old of all levels and has developed programs for small choirs. Please be advised students under the age of 9 years old will be offered 30 min lessons only and will comprise of a combination of music and singing-related games and exercises. Also offering: - Live performance workshops *Contemporary music styles like R&B, soul, neosoul, pop, country. She does not teach classical or jazz. **Please note, 30 min lessons are only for students aged 10 and under. Adult students will be required to book one-hour lesson times to ensure they get the most out of their lessons and therefore their money's worth. Requests for 30 min lessons from adults will be declined and asked to book a one hour lesson.

As a lyrical singer I had the opportunity to perform at an international level but also to continue to teach my profession. My "teacher creed" In vocal pedagogy, I would say that I always find myself "face to face" with a new and unique instrument - the voice: each student is unique and that is why we must look for individual didactic and methodological tools. My vocal technique is based on breathing exercises, awareness of the whole body as an instrument, knowledge of the biological principles of breathing as well as the artistic meaning of breathing. My basic goals are: to maintain a feeling of high position while singing (singing with resonance), binding purely distinctive vowels (legato singing), developing the range of a voice step by step and balancing the vocal registers. While "building" the voice, I take the assessment and development of a student's personality seriously, which I think is undeniable in arts education. It also consists in knowing the appropriate repertoire according to the vocal development of each student.

The watchword is pleasure! We will take the time to find our way/voice. From body preparation to singing, vocalizations and breathing exercises, you will progress quickly. We can also see points of music theory and harmony in a little more depth if desired. The course of an hour of lessons: - 15 mins of body and vocal warm-up - 15 mins of rhythmic music theory/melodic music theory/harmony (if desired) - 30 mins of singing on backing track or I can accompany you on piano or guitar. Of course this is only a typical example. Above all, I will listen to you and we will work according to your desires and needs. I have been teaching music for 15 years. I teach all styles. I work a lot with body awareness, improvisation and what each student needs and for their personal growth. The vocal technique that I use seeks the naturalness of the voice and body relaxation. I combine it with Yoga exercises to make it a complete job. On the piano I teach classical and popular (American cypher) and music reading.
