I lived in Korea for 10 years, studied Korean for 14 years, and earned a Master’s in Korean Linguistics from Yonsei University in Seoul. I am an American who has lived, studied and worked in Korea for the past 10 years and who just relocated back to the states. I am very passionate about language and cross-cultural understanding! I studied Korean and French at the University of Michigan and received my Master's Degree in Korean Linguistics in 2019 from Yonsei University. I ended up opening my own business tutoring Korean full time to fellow international people both in Korea and abroad in the fall of 2023. I love helping others gain confidence in learning/speaking Korean.
- I have experience working in Korean-English translation at small Korean companies (webtoon company, edutech startup). This helped me gain experience in more advanced Korean as well.

My name is Laurie and I am an independent FLE teacher, graduated in French and Romance Languages and Literature since 2012. I have eight years of experience under my belt (abroad and in Belgium). I created a learning method for online courses. I have been preparing students for the DELF, DALF, TCF, FIDE, admission exams, etc. for several years.

The course includes:
-The material (articles, videos, exercises based on images and texts, grammatical theory, links to the exercises, etc.). I use google doc, so the ideal is to have a gmail address to be able to access it.
-Correction of exercises outside the course (written expressions are corrected outside the course, or with the student, depending on their needs).
-Access to an application (free) to study vocabulary on your smartphone.
-A vocabulary sheet - pronunciation - grammar/conjugation, sent after each lesson.
-If necessary, a recording of the vocabulary (for beginners).
-Carrying out online exercises and tests based on the vocabulary sheets sent.
-Motivation, laughter, good humor :-)

My method:
-It is oral based.
-For grammar, I use a particular method which allows oral structures to be automated.
-We work on pronunciation with the verbotonal method (exercises to pose your voice, for rhythm, etc.). I might even make you sing! :-)
-Everything goes through the oral before going through the writing but I obviously adapt to the needs of the students.
-The course is a little different for children and teenagers: I use interactive games and cards via the webcam.

I like to use different methods to teach French to students. It can be through songs, drama, role play or videos. I also very often use situations close to the student's experience, such as describing places they have been or talking about what they have experienced. At the same time, I teach the grammar rules to the student. I now live in regions where French has been spoken for over 30 years.
