Before lessons
Every lesson is designed to fit students' needs. Suitable teaching materials (if needed) would be sent to students before lessons.

During lessons
My lesson is conversation based and student centered. The main goal of my lessons is to get the student to speak and use the vocabulary they have learned. And I always try to create a relaxing environment with my sense of humor and different activities. The first 10 mins of the lesson would be used for warm up and revision.

After lessons
A brief summary would be sent to student for follow up and revision.

My name is Edes, I have been teaching Mandarin Chinese and English for 5 years. I graduated from the University of Hull in the United Kingdom with the Bachelor degree in Marketing Management.

Work Experience and Area
I am a language enthusiast who cannot pass a day without exploring the world of languages. I can speak fluent Mandarin Chinese, English, Cantonese and Japanese. That is why I want to share my passion with my students. To share the skills of learning a language. My passion led me to study in Beijing Language and Culture University for the certificate of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language and in Beijing Normal University for the certificate of Putonghua Trainer.

I have worked in Hong Kong, Macau and Osaka, with public schools, private schools like Global Citizen and Private companies like Hyatt Regency Hotel. I do online teaching, face to face, 1 on 1 lesson. Also corporate and Intensive training. My students aged from 3 to 90 years old and they learn Chinese for different reasons, from having a hobby to dealing with Chinese customers.

Teaching Methodology
My lesson is conversation based and student centered. The main goal of my lessons is to get the student to speak and use the vocabulary they have learned. I always design my lessons to fit different needs. And I always try to create a relaxing environment with my sense of humor and different activities.

Who am I after class
I am a backpacker when I am not on a job. One of my biggest accomplishments was to travel around the world for a year with a tiny budget. And I am proud of myself everyday when I remember the days I spent conquering the Himalayas in Nepal.

I'm a Confucius Institute (the ONLY globally recognized official institution for teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages) certified Mandarin teacher.

I'm also an official YCT (Youth Chinese Test)/ HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test)/ HSKK (Chinese Proficiency Spoken Test) test examiner.

In addition to giving private lessons, I also teach Chinese at international schools and lead Mandarin immersion Spielgruppe (playgroup) in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. My speciality is teaching children between the age of 2.5 and 12 in an immersive and interactive learning environment. By means of guided game-playing, painting, story-reading, drama activities, song-singing, dancing, and handcraft-making, kids achieve organic language acquisition while having a lot of fun.
