I studied piano in the United States and in France for 14 years and I'll be happy to share my experience and passion with you. I can teach basic piano skills as well as help prepare for examinations or competitions.
Lessons are in English, but also possible in Italian or French.

I provide private piano lessons for all ages, from beginner to intermediate levels.
My lessons are tailored completely by the students interests, or I can advice material and repertoire, that will be efficient for a student to follow.

Any music style or genre is welcome. I have studied mostly classical and jazz music. These things will be discussed with the student by her or his interests!

My classes are meant for anyone who has the basic knowledge of music theory and notation, and who has compositional ideas that need expressing. My classes are meant for anyone who has the basic knowledge of music theory and notation, and who has compositional ideas that need expressing. The lesson content can range between preparatory lessons for University/Academy Composition study entrance exams to consulting with independent composers or postgraduates.
You can sign for regular lessons (weekly, monthly) or take an individual lesson

- I can tutor you in all stages of your compositional process, from sketching ideas and notation to strategies for rehearsing your music.
- I am able to see value in compositions regardless of style and technique. I can advise you specifically with: composing in the idioms of contemporary instrumental, vocal, and choral music, atonal, tonal, and microtonal composition, timbral and noise composition, extended instrumental composition, interdisciplinary composition, and with contemporary music analysis.

- I was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1990 and studied academically as follows:
HAMU Prague, composition PhD (M.Rataj, H.Barton) (2018-2022)
Sibelius Academy Helsinki, composition BA & MA (T.Nevanlinna, V.Puumala) (2009-2016)
Kunstuniversität Graz, composition Erasmus studies (including B.Furrer, P.Billone, G.F.Haas) (2012-2013)

- I have given composition lectures at prestigious universities in Budapest (F.Liszt), Brussels (KCB), Graz (KUG), Helsinki (Uniarts Sibelius Academy), Prague (HAMU), New York (Columbia Univ.), and at festivals (Freiburg, Helsinki).

- I work around Europe as a freelance composer, part-time teacher at the Sibelius Academy (Helsinki, Finland) and singer for contemporary music premieres (Helsinki Chamber Choir, Chamber Choir Ireland). I am mostly based in Prague (CZ) and Helsinki (FIN).
- My works have been performed on five continents since my youth, 2002.
- Competitions won: DYCE (2019 and 2020), Uuno Klami junior competition (2007)
- Several pupils tutored individually in Helsinki since 2014
- Basic music theory courses teacher (2010-2018, 2020-2021), about 100 pupils this far
- Works published by BabelScores, member of the Society of Finnish Composers, concert curator (the MicroFest format in Helsinki and Prague)

Whether you're a complete beginner or have been taking piano lessons for years, I would be delighted to share my passion for music and piano playing with you! :)

I will tailor our lessons to fit your preferences, incorporating any genre you wish. We can follow a textbook and have a clear set of goals with scales and exercises, or we can learn your favourite songs with the right accompaniment. Do you want to improve in music theory or sight-reading (prima vista)? We can include that as well!

Diogo is a curious musician, being part of different projects such as the Kaamos Duo (contemporary music for saxophone and soprano singer), chamber music with pianist Lambis Pavlou and Cantus Portugueses (traditional portuguese music with a modern twist). He also plays as a member of the contemporary music groups Korvat Auki and the Nyky Ensemble.
His main musical interests at the moment are the collaborations with living composers, chamber music with different ensembles, and interdisciplinary improvisation.
Diogo performances have taken place in many venues such as the Philharmonie of Essen, OrchesterZentrum Dortmund, Music Center Helsinki, Turku Castle, Liceu Auditorium Barcelona, Casa da Música do Porto, and many more.

Diogo's recognition includes prizes in some international competitions and the recent recognition at the 2022 Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy competition for Contemporary Ensembles and the recent participation at the prestigious Josip Nochta Competition in Zagreb, Croatia.

Diogo teaches all saxophones and ensemble playing in Portuguese, Spanish, English and German.
