My name is Texenén, I am a flute/piccolo player living in Maastricht with more than 15 years of teaching experience. If you want to learn how to play this amazing instrument; if you already know but would love to take it out of the storage room and enjoy it again; if you need help to study the pieces you have to play in your wind band; or if you want to prepare exams, competitions or auditions I am here to help you to reach your goals. Turkish reed flute is an essential instrument of Turkish Classcial Music. It has a deep and dense culture dating from 13. century around. If you want to learn about how to perform it you first need a teacher educated by masters on this field. As of many teachers you can find online but you make sure that not every tutor meets with traditional style. Solfege and method are inseperable parts of the lessons. So for beginners and intermediate students must follow a compotent tutor to learn about the way of classic form.

Chris is a New York City-based multi-instrumentalist. A passionate composer and improviser, he has performed as a leader and sideman throughout New York, Boston, Colorado and abroad over the past 15 years. Chris attended the Manhattan School of Music (MM ‘25) and the New England Conservatory of Music (BM ‘23). He has taught privately and within public schools over the past eight years, and loves to help students cultivate their passion for music and instrumental performance. Students can choose to focus entirely on their instrument (saxophone, clarinet, and flute), or can specifically study improvisation, jazz composition, music theory, and ear training. While primarily a jazz musician, Chris is trained in a wide variety of musics including classical, which he diligently studied on the clarinet; popular music and R&B; and world musics, including Brazilian (Choro/Bossa/Samba), Latin-American (Bomba/Timba/Rumba), and West-African styles (Agbekor/Gahu). Some of Chris's many accomplishments include being recognized as a YoungArts Jazz Performance winner for four years in a row; performing abroad in Europe with the inaugural NYO Jazz Band, receiving a Community Performances and Partnerships Ensemble Fellowship at New England Conservatory, and also receiving the George Whitefield Chadwick Medal of musical and academic performance. Chris emphasizes a teaching approach that prioritizes connecting with the student and engaging them in what they’re specifically interested in, while also covering the fundamentals essential to developing ones skills on their instrument or in their field of study. He offers lessons in person, primarily at students's personal residences, and also online via Zoom, Google Meet, or FaceTime (although in person is highly recommended).

I studied at the Royal College of Music in London, during which time I was winner of the Eve Kisch flute prize & was awarded the Allen John Warren prize. I've since performed with orchestras & ensembles in Europe, Norway, Middle East, Hong Kong & Macau. This class is for students of any age who wish to learn the transverse flute. Learning an instrument takes time and commitment, but it's hugely rewarding - and it doesn't have to be boring! I have experience teaching students of all age and levels and I specialise in tailoring my teaching to meet the individual needs of each student. Beginner flute lessons are suitable for students learning from scratch or those already playing up to about ABRSM Grade 2 level. In beginner flute lessons, you will learn the fundamentals of making a sound and play your first notes, as well as the basics of reading music. As lessons progress, you will learn your first short pieces and maybe even prepare for graded exams. Intermediate lessons are suitable for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 3 to Grade 5 levels. In these lessons, you will build on what you already know to expand your abilities on the flute. You will learn more about different musical styles and techniques and develop more confidence to express yourself through music. Advanced lessons are for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 6 and beyond. Depending on each student, lessons could involve growing more skills to take the advanced grade or diploma exams exams through to learning the skills to put together a recital programme or prepare for a music college audition. There is wide scope in these lessons to focus on your areas of interest, while still keeping an eye on the solid foundations of good flute technique and musicianship.
