I graduated from the Real Conservatorio de Música de Madrid and currently I live in Brussels and in Koninklijke Conservatorium Brussels I am doing a master with Olsi Leka, first cellist of the Belgian National Orchestra. I studied piano under the amazing Milica Jovanovic at Western Washington University, and went on to earn my Bachelors in Music. I have nine years of experience with teaching private lessons, with ages ranging from 5-65. I am most experienced and comfortable teaching those at the beginning or intermediate levels. I believe that music is one of the most beautiful things in this world, and that it can richly enhance our lives, intellect, and creativity. Hi, I'm Karoline! I have a Bachelor of Education from the University of Music and performing arts Vienna and have been teaching for several years. Whether you are a complete beginner (of any age) or have been playing for many years - my lessons will be customized to fit you personal needs and goals. For me the most important thing is to pass down my passion for the instrument and music and to teach you how to be confident with your instrument. I can also prepare you for exams (i.e. entrance exams for a music university) and teach lessons in music theory and ear training. I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons to students of all levels. As a pianist 12 years of teaching experience and over 21 years of playing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Finally, Alex creates a video tutorial about the piece or song that needs to be learned for the next lesson. This gives extra support when practising at home, in order to avoid any doubt and keep motivation up. A report is then created to keep track of what has been done as well as what needs to be worked on, in order to unlock technical requirements and complete a specific repertoire in a constructive and efficient way. Alex teaches in Rotterdam at home or at the pupil's own location ; lessons are in Dutch, English or French, for all ages and levels. I teach you to read the scores with your voice. We are going to learn to sing scales, arpeggios and intervals, and to identify them on the staff to read them. We will also see what is the key signature, the tones and the modes. As everything is sung, we will detach the two mechanisms: the chest voice and the head voice, and we will tune the ear.
