Hey all! I'm Stephanie , a native Mandarin and Cantonese speaker . I have plenty of experiences giving Chinese lessons to beginners.when I was in China, I have tutored students from Russia,Norway . I also I have experience to teach kids,my course in the form of a game.

I am from Shenzhen, a development so fast city . Very close to Hong Kong, when I live in Shanghai my part time job is teaching mandarin and Cantonese to foreigners. I like to being a teacher. It’s so much fun. Especially with kids.
I move back to Belgium with my husband,I am doing my own kitchen. I make Cantonese cuisine for lunch box.
I have plenty time do other things, I would like to teach peoples who wants to learn mandarin and Cantonese. Also for Cantonese cuisine.

After my Bachelor's degree in Sinology at Ghent University I lived in Chengdu from 2013 to 2017, I am currently back for my Master's in Sinology and I would like to help people who want to learn Chinese or want to learn more about "life in China"

My Mandarin is upper-intermediate with an HSK level 5 and knowledge of the Sichuan dialect.

More and more people are planning to learn Chinese for travel, work needs or simply because they are curious and interested in the language. The pronunciation and writing system of Chinese is very different from that of the Dutch and Latin languages, and it also becomes a huge obstacle in learning Chinese.

It is the aim of the courses I teach to help you overcome all obstacles in the Chinese learning process. As a student of English literature, I can understand the relationship between languages and how I can help you create this relationship.

Chinese is well known as a difficult language with tones and using characters totally different from alphabet. But with my 4 years of teaching Chinese as second language in University Gent as a full time lecture, 9 years experience in Wuhan University before I came to Belgium, my Belgian students starting from zero can managed to speak without foreign accent and pass HSK 4 after 1 year study. If you are looking for professional tutor and willing to put effort into it, I'm here for you.

With my thorough knowledge of the Chinese language and culture, we will search together for the appropriate way to master the language. In my experience, everyone learns in a different way, so we will find out together what is the most fun!

I graduated in 2017 as a Sinologist at Ghent University (Chinese language and culture). I also obtained a master's degree at Sichuan University (四川大学) (2018). After that, I spent a few years in China. In addition to a basic course with an emphasis on oral, I create lessons that go beyond just language. Chinese language is embedded in culture and history, so we also take a moment to reflect on that. I have experience with private lessons for adults who move to China as expats, but the lessons are flexible and for all ages!

Lessons:
I use a basic Chinese course but there is a lot we can fill in ourselves. What kind of series/films do you like to watch? Is there any music you like to listen to? Through these questions I can recommend certain Chinese music and series that we can work with. For example, instead of homework I will give a film to watch, this way we learn through absorption instead of forcing ourselves to remember everything. If it is fun, everything sticks better!

Would you like to focus more on speaking instead of writing or vice versa? That is possible, in which situations would you like to use Chinese? For work or for a trip? That way we can adapt the lessons to personal wishes.

Once we have progressed a bit further, I also organize lessons and dinners with Chinese friends in Ghent or Brussels, so we can practice with real "native speakers".
