MUSIC COMPOSITION - Learn how to write music (professional composer teacher)

It’s time to write those musical ideas you have in mind!

I’m Iago: pianist, composer, and conductor. With more than 9 years of teaching experience, I can help you, your children, family or friends to learn how to write all the musical ideas you have and want to share.

About me? I’m a professional composer (experimental music and opera) with a master's degree from the Conservatorium Maastricht under the guidance of Vykintas Baltakas. I’m also a piano performer specialized in contemporary music (piano and electronic music, why not?), and I’m also running my own multimedia ópera company in the Netherlands. I’ve been teaching for 9 years, which allowed me to notice how important it is to adapt all the lessons to the students. Teaching music is my passion, so my teaching way is not just superficial.

About the lessons? The lessons are planned to be as practical as possible and always adapted to the music taste of every student. The development of the lessons goes through different musical elements: harmony, structure, rhythm, new technologies, etc. The main core of this course is being able to write several pieces with different instruments and tools.

Présentation
My name is Iago, I’m a professional pianist, composer and conductor. Also a teacher with 15+ years of experience. Once I finished my piano performing bachelor, I moved to the Netherlands to study a master in music composition and some further training in conducting. I just can’t stop my curiosity for learning more and more about music!

For the last few years, I’ve been teaching mainly in Amsterdam and online. Until last summer 2022, I was also the Piano Teacher and Head of Education in the Historic Conservatory of Santiago de Compostela.

My way of teaching changes a lot depending on the student’s interests and skills. That’s important to keep in mind! I’ve taught students with a “professional-goal” mind who got accepted in the universities they wanted, but also spent countless times making music games, so my students could learn and improve their skills by having plenty of fun.

I give my lessons a humanist approach: we’ll learn about piano, about composition… But also about all other topics that might have an impact in our learning process (from music theory to taking care of our health).

Piano is the instrument used by the romantics to make their most beautiful music, but also by the most experimental and modern composers to create their craziest music wonders. Isn't it a great instrument to play?

With more than 5 years of experience teaching in music schools and 15 years as a private piano teacher, I developed an efficient and "fun-but-efficient" way to teach how to play the instrument. Every student is different, which means the way to play and learn shall be different, making every single lesson special and rewarding.

I also offer the possibility of teaching in groups: if you want to know more about this option.

Hope to see you soon in our class!

Leading a group of musicians. Conducting is a necessary part of every performance with an orchestra, a wind band, opera performances, a choir and even smaller groups. Would you like to grab the baton?

I'm a specialist in the conducting of Contemporary Music, which requires a deep knowledge of the music and how it works. I can teach any interested student how to conduct any kind of group: do you want to become the conductor of your local wind band? Are you planning to start your own small orchestra and you want to know how to conduct it? We can work together on that, so you will learn, gradually, how to deal with all the required things to lead any group: the musical part itself, but also the group psychology, management, etc.

Join this class and enjoy of making music!

Basles for beginners and advanced students.
I give the base and slaples on the bass.
Nothing is more fun than being able to play something at the first lesson and with me that is possible, otherwise it is so boring.
I teach in Pop, Rock, Funk and Reggae ..
It depends on you how often you practice playing.

Graduated from a Master degree and a double Bachelor degree from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, I can help you developp your technical skills on the saxophone, your harmonical and rythmical knowledge, your sight reading as well as developping improvisation skills, through a pedagogical method that follows the student's aspirations, starting from wherever the student's development is at and moving on from there step by step.

I adress my lessons to all levels, from complete beginners that never had any contact with music to advanced students that want to keep on developping musically.

I am teaching composition, piano, theory/harmony, & ear-training. I graduated from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam as a contemporary composer.

I am very open to the stylistic choices of the students and adapt the lesson to fit their particular needs or interests.
When it comes to composition, I'm coaching anyone who needs advice as to how to write their own music, how to develop their compositional tools, song-writing skills, how to translate conceptual ideas into practical material. This also applies to children, who might want to get the basics of making their own song, either on an instrument or on the computer.
My approach to teaching piano is highly influenced by my composition studies, both in stylistic diversity and in pedagogical methods. I find it important to teach piano in an overall way, one that incorporates ear-training but also theory together with playing. This way i find that the lesson becomes much more stimulating, and it also becomes much more easy to learn.

I have experience teaching adults but also young kids between 4-15 years old. I believe it is never late to start learning music and that learning to make music is firstly a fun and then a challenging adventure.

Hey peeps!
I love to give guitar lessons in a relaxed mood that will not put pressure on you, only giving you feedbacks that will improve your practice. The first lessons will generally consist of covering the basics by learning simple songs. Depending on how it goes, we will go straight into learning songs that you want to play, where you will learn even more!
I can teach you how to play across several appointments during the week so you'll learn faster and enjoy playing straight from the beginning :)

Keep growing ♥️

I am 21 years old and I am currently a flute student at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I finished my studies in conservatories in France and obtained a license in music and musicology at the Sorbonne (Paris IV).
I offer personalized lessons meeting the desires and ambitions of everyone, from the simple beginner to the confirmed musician.
For the flute lessons, I offer exercises for sound, technique, adapted pieces. During music theory lessons, I can give tips for learning to read keys, rhythms, and offer dictations. Studying the theory allows you to learn to recognize chords, to calculate a score, to analyze the structure of a piece, to recognize the style from musical elements.
It is possible to combine several lessons, for example half an hour of flute then a quarter of an hour of music theory.

Hello! I'm Nina, a drummer from Amsterdam.
I am currently studying pop/rock drums at the Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht.
I play in 2 bands. I also play in many different session projects (from pop to rock). I work a lot with hybrid drums (triggers and SPD) and also teach them with Ableton.

The studio is located in the Q-Factory in Amsterdam with two professional drum kits and sound system.
In addition, I can occasionally offer a lesson in Utrecht!
If all this is too far or for some other reason not reachable, lessons at home and / or online are also possible!

We can work on, among other things:
- Hand technique (how do I hold my sticks? Or which stick technique do I use for different music styles?)
Creativity (how can I ultimately make cool parts on the drums myself? Or different parts than what you initially came up with?)
- Improvisation (lots of playing and trying!)
- Timing (playing along with songs, with click tracks, how can I become more playful with the click?)
- Relaxed posture
- Drum notation (learning to read drum notes)
- New fills, grooves and beats
- Sound (how do I tune my drums? which drum sound do I want for different types of music?)
- Hybrid drums (working with samples on the SPD and/or triggers) in combination with Ableton

And of course we will play along to your favorite songs a lot!
I especially hope that I can create lessons together with you that match what you like and what you would like to learn. All levels and ages are welcome!

I have graduated from the world’s great institutions such as the Royal College of Music London, Manhattan School of Music New-York, Brussels Royal Conservatory, and Paris-Sorbonne University (in musicology).
I have been performing concerts around the world in the most prestigious concert halls including the Châtelet Theatre and Seine Musicale (Paris), the National Opera House (Oman) and La Scala (Milan), as well as many other venues in Europe, US, China, Middle-East. With the experiences I gained over the years - including the teaching experience in the Conservatory of Cambrai (France) - I became an expert in teaching violin and keyboards as well as music theory, including writing and reading scores. I have been teaching to the different age groups and different levels of technical backgrounds (beginner or advanced). I can easily adapt myself to the level of each student to create a synchronicity and help them pursue their goals and wishes. I am there to help them as a teacher and a music coach for their musical career. I can combine different practices and teach basic techniques in repertoire that matches the personality of the student (from classical to contemporary, pop, rock and more). Based on the teaching experiences I have, I can consider myself as a teacher with patience, motivating style and an open mind. Happy to provide references from my previous students from Amsterdam / Paris / Milan if requested.

Next to my technical teaching skills, I am also actively involving in various musical projects. I have recently performed for major TV shows in Paris: Le Grand Échiquier (France 2), Variations (France Télévisions, Culturbox), and I am currently making my first classical / electronic album in Amsterdam.

Private lessons for beginners to advanced level of violin playing. All ages are welcome. I am a professionally trained teacher and violinist for almost two decades. My lessons are given in English, Spanish and (basic) Dutch.

My teaching method is variable depending on the students' needs, but the goal is shared: to make a great musician and qualified violinist out of the pupil. I work on both technical and musical aspects from a (very) consciously prepared healthy and enjoyable perspective. Particular emphasis on having fun with the little ones!

I pay special attention to creating a personalized education and experience for every one of my students. I also give some additional tools applicable to the violin playing which includes: Introduction to Yoga, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique and Body & Mind. All the basic theory is taught too.

Occasionally, there are student concerts and collaborations with other teachers. (These may include some teachers from the Sweelinck Academy or the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and more).

From among the required tools for my lessons are: a violin and a bow, score and books purchases when necessary, and, from time to time, meetings with the parents. On occasion, I use digital tools like phone/tablet apps.

I can teach in various places near or in the center of Amsterdam, or, depending on the need, I can move to pretty much wherever in The Netherlands.

About the homework, I send it to the students on a weekly basis and encourage them to participate on competitions and summer music courses. As always, this is conditional on the pupil's stage.
