I believe that learning should be a pleasant and enjoyable experience which serves to open the individual's mind to a whole world of possibilities, especially true for languages, i.e. doing my job and having fun along the way are equally important for me!

About Me

I believe learning should be fun and should to inspire the student to want to learn more and more about the subject, rather than discourage him with presenting the information in a dry an uninteresting way. As a law student I have had abundant first hand experience of this and know what to avoid, when to ask for more and when to stop. Despite being an easy-going and flexible person, I am aware that discipline and consistency are key to any achievement and like to work with people who share this understanding.

3) Studied in a high school where subjects were exclusively taught in Spanish for 5 years;

The method?

It is a teaching of language through games, art, culture and reading (press or literary). My central point is communication (understanding what is communicated to us and communicating). Teaching is functional and cooperative.

The acquisition of language skills is inseparable from cultural skills. I emphasize not only the different learning experiences that our daily lives offer us but also we want learners to talk about their culture. It’s interculturality that I prefer.

Group language teaching allows for the exchange and sharing of cultures, thus promoting communication based on each person's experience but also on their daily life in a new environment.

The objective is to learn with pleasure, using the language with creativity and inventiveness, without being afraid of our “mistakes”.

Educational material is no longer limited to classic learning books and grammar and exercise books. We use the play as educational material from which lessons and exercises are developed. With images, music, newspaper articles, films, poems...

I can teach you to speak Portuguese, English and Spanish.
My native language is Portuguese and I am practically native in English so you can expect us to work together and to highly develop both languages. We can meet for a first class to discuss your goals and set up our rhythm of work according to that. My experience and skills are mainly focused on improving conversation, however we can see in detail the grammar if you are also interested in this aspect. What I propose is a set of exercises to practice your oral expression:

-Free subjects or subjects of general interest: travel, leisure... or even more specialized themes such as politics, culture...
-Vocabulary games: riddles, descriptions, construction of sentences, short stories ... whose words will serve as a basis for other exercises in future sessions to consolidate what has been seen and to measure your progress
-Sketches: dramatizations of everyday situations or situations that make you or could make you uncomfortable in a foreign language (work interviews, shopping, making an appointment, procedures at the municipality, etc.) ). Here you will have the advantage of preparing yourself and having the situation under control with the support of the teacher.
-Songs: we will go through vocabulary, grammar, accents, expressions, cultural aspects and anecdotes using songs that are part of Spanish-speaking musical culture (Latin America and Spain)
Have you ever wanted to know what are the lyrics of a song in Spanish? This is your opportunity!
-I also use the following games during lessons, but you can suggest others:
tabú en español (taboo), story cubes, and other specific games for learning Spanish (board games for example)

I can also help you develop a more formal vocabulary (argumentation, presentation...). You can obviously choose the subject but if you lack an idea I can always suggest one and from there work on vocabulary and pronunciation, which will be reviewed each week in order to consolidate your knowledge and measure your progress. At the end of each session you will receive feedback on the exercises and a few days later you will also receive corrections and notes.
