Popular music and contemporary performance (UK syllabus)
Entry level lessons teach about rhythm, melody, harmony, duo play, replay, music listening and ear training, music notation and sight-reading. Learning depends on your life experience and abilities. You can learn some days, some others may develop skills some years. Leaners can continue studies in a music school or studio. Musical literacy is the reading, writing, and playing of music, as well an understanding of cultural practice and historical and social contexts. Kopli is famous for bohemians and fine art. Young musicians can rent a music studio for free of charge at the youth centre.

Music Lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced musicians
In my first years of music training I was always wondering what I was playing. Why this note works better with this other note, why this part returns in the end of the piece but with different chords. In this course I would like to share what I have learned so far about composition and harmony. Jazz harmony it's possible but my education is strictly classical

    Jamie
Piano Tuition for all ages and abilities with experienced pianist and teacher - Classical / Grades 1-8 / Music theory
Hi students and music lovers ! Piano is a fun and rewarding way to explore music for people of all ages, whether you've played music before or not, and is one of the most accessible instruments right from the first lesson! I teach with a variety of pop-transcriptions and easy Classical pieces, simple improvisation and harmony exercises, and am comfortable adapting to each pupils own way of learning. If you're new to piano, or have played before and want to rekindle your love of music, get in touch to arrange a first lesson! I will book us a room with a grand piano at the Academy. I graduated Master’s cum laude in Piano Performance at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre studying with prof. Peep Lassmann, who was himself a student of the great Russian pianist Emil Gilels. I have 12 years' private teaching experience, and was employed by Märjamaa Music and Art School as a 1:1 piano teacher in 2018-19. I also have a BMus (Hons) degree from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and DipABRSM, the standard professional teaching qualification in the UK. Reviews from current students: "Jamie is an amazing teacher. I had no knowledge of piano before him and was worried in general of being able to learn. His way of explaining, patience and incredible passion for music gave me the push to try and are reinforcing my motivation to learn more day-by-day. Our classes are alive, fun, and so much like a continuous journey through all the aspects of piano music." - Angelyk "Jamie makes this comfortable atmosphere, you'll never be afraid to make a mistake. I learned a song already in my second/third lesson. 🙂 " - Taimi

Piano classes with focusing on music theory and history
Playing an instrument is not just about pushing buttons or bowing. It is also about how you do it. You can not play a piece perfectly unless you know it's highs and lows. To play a piece, you need to know it theoretically and historically. And I'm here to teach you how a piece should be done on a piano. If you are more interested in knowing a piece than just playing it, I'm your guy.

    Giorgia
Piano lessons - music theory and harmony - for any level
I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Beginner to Advanced Lessons for Guitar Players for all ages
After dedicating 14 years to mastering the guitar, I've developed a comprehensive understanding of guitar playing, encompassing both foundational techniques and advanced music theory. In these lessons, I'll be sharing the wealth of knowledge I've accumulated over this extensive period of learning. I will be covering a broad range of guitar techniques, including fingerpicking, strumming techniques, major and minor chords, power chords, barre chords, riffs, scales, finger warm-ups, practising any song of your choice, string bending, pull-offs, hammer-ons, harmonics, strumming patterns, and slides. All are provided with diagrams etc. For music theory, I will begin by covering the fundamentals, including notes, strings, and the musical 12-note chromatic scale alphabet on the guitar. As students progress, we will delve into more advanced topics such as tones, semitones, chord progressions, circle of fifths, scale formulas and chord terminology. Additionally, we will explore concepts like consonance and dissonance and pitch practice to develop relative pitch. (You have to be born with perfect pitch but you can learn relative pitch with practise!) Then advancing to jazz theory, we'll explore; jazz scale formulas, jazz chord progressions, swing techniques, major and minor 7th chords, major and minor 9th chords, dominant, augmented, half-diminished, diminished, sus2 and sus4 chords. And then jazz scales and the art of re-harmonising a song (changing the chords to jazz chords). All music theory will be intertwined with guitar practice as both can't be done without the other! One observation I've made while learning guitar through lessons is that information is often doled out incrementally, making it feel like a breadcrumb trail. Guitar knowledge and skills seem to be closely guarded and usually gatekept unless actively sought out. I strongly believe that the extensive knowledge I've acquired over 14 years of playing should be fruitfully shared in a more comprehensive and accessible manner, of course while being tailored to the pace of the students. In essence, I'm convinced that the depth of my understanding I've gained could be effectively conveyed and learnt within a two-year timeframe without including the time it takes to master the skill with practice, of course, I'd like to make it easier for people to learn the guitar and the theory behind it. I have also graduated with a distinction for my Music Performance and Production UAL Level 3 Course and have experience teaching guitar in London and Bristol before. The lessons will be taught in English so practising your English with me is also a plus, a foundational knowledge of English is required to take the lessons.

    Cheslava
Piano and Singing tutor with 5 years experience and professional education
From my childhood I have been studying music and art: sang in choir and solo, played piano, painted, studied music history and literature, solfeggio. Later in college I have also learned choir conducting, had ensemble and choir singing lessons, cultural studies. During last year in university I had pedagogy practice at university and at private art school (where I worked as a music tutor before the war - piano, voice). I truly enjoyed working with students. They all were different age (8 - 40+ years old) and level. But all were very interesting and work was pleasant. My education was very various: my core subjects were conducting, choir, voice, piano. So it allowed me to work with children, teens and adults with quite wide range of interests and needs: some students needed/wanted to learn particular composition(s), sometimes pop songs arrangements, some were interested in “introduction” to the music, some wanted to renew skills they gained in their childhood and continue their journey to the music world. In addition I prepared presentations (which contained information about cultural and historical background and musical and character/art analysis). So after graduation from choir conducting faculty (which allowed me to deepen my knowledge in many important compatible branches) I concentrated on studying classical singing and piano, expanded my cultural studies and analysis knowledge, practiced solfeggio and harmony.
