PHILOSOPHY OF HISTORY - THEORY OF HISTORY TODAY

I offer classes on History, Geography, and Political Science, with over 11 years' of experience in these subjects, both professionally and academically. I hold Bachelor's Degrees in both History and Political Science (from the University of Florida), as well as a Master's in Political Science, specifically European Politics (from KU Leuven). I have extensive experience in a wide range of historical and political subjects and have always had a keen interest in history and the social sciences. Additionally, previously I have been a journalist (dealing with Competition Law) and currently am an editor working on a wide variety of subjects for organizations such as the UNHCR and Goethe Institut, among others. I am capable of teaching and lecturing on numerous historical and political events and periods in history, with myself having specialized in European history, American history, African history, as well as the Medieval period and Antiquity.

Currently a final year Master's student in International Studies, I offer courses in Arabic, French and history-geography. My two mother tongues are Arabic and French, which I teach to different audiences (children, teenagers, adults), in school settings or in private lessons. I also have a degree in history, which allows me to offer solid courses in history and geopolitics, related to my academic field of specialization. My classes are adapted to the needs of each learner: refresher courses, academic support, conversation, exam preparation or learning French as a foreign language. This specific program aims to strengthen necessary skills, consolidate knowledge and provide strategic guidance to excel in assessments.

I teach a number of subjects, primarily Geography and Business Studies, and am interested in tutoring students who need extra help in these areas on an online basis. While my day-to-day work centers on the IGCSE and IB curricula, I am willing and able to provide assistance in other programs (e.g. A-Levels and AP) as well.

In these neuro-divergent times, the binary division of "one language or two" in bilinguals is perhaps due some contestation, which students are capable of providing. I have always found bilingual production models (and the ubiquitous Powerpoint slide) that university teachers provide a hindrance because of their lack of explicitness and discussion - they are just not relatable as presented nor do they provide much information or examples for monolingual students. Code-switching, a by-product of bilingualism, is now a term that is even found in minority-ethnic neighbourhood grafitti ("can white people code-switch" a found example). Please note that this is a linguistic term, used for switching between two languages, and not between local or social varieties of English. My personal position is that there is no such thing as bilingualism: there is always a language that suffers attrition, and one language that prevails, mostly because of its prestigious standing over the other language. On the other hand, a child exposed to more than one language cannot be truly monolingual. For this course (very popular at universities around Europe both at undergraduate and postgraduate level) we shall go through the terms used to discuss bilingualism, in detail, and then discuss, with the help of published books and articles, who can be considered bilingual (or are we all, one other language lying dormant?). Can bilingualism be defined by the speaker, instead of the "community"? Can it be imposed by the State? Does a bilingual brain function in the same manner as a monolingual brain? These are research questions that emerge as dissertation or thesis topics both at undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Depending on the course chosen, the age and the learner's objective, I adapt to the need (in-depth learning, preparation for an exam, a competition, methodology) and the context (attention span, motivation). I offer mini-challenges to make learning fun, for young and old alike.

Zambian languages remains so important to any VISITOR and any INDIGENOUS Zambian who wishes to improve in communication skills.To give you the picture, once you know BEMBA language, you can easily be understood by anyone in all 10 provinces of the country.On the other hand , NYANJA gives an advantage to be understood especially in LUSAKA-Zambia's capital city and also in other provinces.Other, languages like TONGA and MAMBWE are provincial based; TONGA is the WIDELY spoken language in SOUTHERN province and MAMBWE in MUCHINGA province.Why LEARN Zambian languages? It saves you from language barrier and many inconveniences that comes with expressing your thoughts or ideas . New words are always taught per class session , correct spellings and pronunciation of words are emphasized. Prior to notifying me that you won't be available for a class, a class video is recorded and sent to you.If you are available then an ONLINE class takes place. On the other hand, students loves the fact that we do have customized time tables. We make a time table for a student depending on their convenient day/s and time .This flexibility in time and time table makes it very much accommodating to learners who are either very busy in the morning or afternoon. It is always motivating, satisfying and inspiring to meet the demands of each student.

History is one of the most important subjects for any student to understand. In addition to being part of a student's core curriculum, an understanding of history is essential for viewing the world in an informed manner. Through this course, we will learn about US & European History at the middle and high school levels. Rather than exploring history through dates and memorization, we will view history through the lenses of causation, continuity and change over time, and comparison.

Passionate about history and geography, I offer dynamic courses tailored to each student, from middle school to high school. My goal is to make these subjects lively, concrete, and accessible, giving meaning to the programs while effectively preparing students for assessments and exams (brevet, baccalaureate, etc.). Together, we will work on key concepts, methodology (document analysis, writing, sketching, understanding instructions, etc.), perspective, and the ability to make connections between the topics studied. I'm currently working on my thesis. I took a literary preparatory class with an average of 16.5 in philosophy. I'm currently an "independent philosopher." I'm very interested in aesthetics, phenomenology, and the humanities and their approaches to urbanity! My favorite theme is the notion of dwelling. My approach will consist, mainly, of learning methods so that you are more efficient in your work - time is precious! As for knowledge, I will adapt it according to your needs/requests.
