About Me

My name is Máté, I am a Hungarian jazz saxophonist. I am finishing my studies in Master performance this year at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne.
I am a member of the Symbiosis 5 quintet with which we won first places at the Getxo Jazz Festival 2023, Sibiu Jazz Festival 2023 and Müpa Jazz Showcase 2023 in Budapest.

My music styles are jazz (especially bebop, hardbop and modal jazz), experimental music.

I am a Clarinet, Saxophone and Vocal coach from Zimbabwe with over a decade of teaching and performance experience from leading a successful solo career and working as a music teacher. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz singing from Haute Ecole de Musique (HEMU) Lausanne where I am currently studying a Masters in Jazz Pedagogy. The 5 string banjo is an amazing instrument. It's driving trademark sound and it's African roots has contributed to many music traditions, including Country, Bluegrass, Blues, Jazz and world music.

In my class you'll first learn the basics, how to hold and pick and read tablatures. We'll then go through how to play a tune, accompany other instruments and finally, improvise. During the year I'll teach you basic music theory like rhythm, harmony and a bit of ear training to help you develop your understanding and relationship to the instrument.
