Wil je meer leren over wat er achter klassieke muziek zit? Wil je leren zelf muziek te schrijven? Of ben je al bezig met muziek te schrijven, en wil je graag begeleiding of feedback hierin? Dan kan ik je hierbij helpen!

Ik ben afgestudeerd componist aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam (Bachelor) en het Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (Master). Ik heb veel ervaring met schrijven voor soloinstrumenten, ensembles, koren en orkesten, en elektronica.

Voor muziektheorie kan ik een algemene, brede aanpak hanteren, of we kunnen ons toespitsen op bepaalde soorten muziek en die onderzoeken, net waar jij behoefte aan hebt.

Voor compositie kunnen we de basisprincipes bespreken als je net begint met componeren of dat van plan bent. Als je al langer bezig bent zullen we ons meer toespitsen op de muziek die jij maakt en die met elkaar bespreken.

Mijn naam is Pepijn, en ik ben componist. Ik heb mijn bachelor afgerond aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam, en mijn master aan het Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Meerdere werken van mij zijn uitgevoerd in het heel Nederland, van Amsterdam en Utrecht tot Eindhoven, en ook buiten Nederland in New York en in Portugal. Ik ben bijna mijn hele leven bezig met muziek, maar het blijft een eindeloos fascinerend onderwerp waar ongelooflijk veel in te ontdekken valt.

In mijn muziek probeer ik me niet te veel aan een bepaalde stijl te binden, omdat ik denk dat je vastleggen ten koste kan gaan van je creativiteit. Daarnaast is er zo veel goede muziek in alle stijlen dat je heel veel goeds mist als je je toelegt op één stijl.
Wel denk ik dat het goed is om een basisbegrip te hebben van harmonie, ritme, en instrumenten, akoestisch of elektronisch, omdat het gewoon enorm helpt in je creatieve proces als je iets hebt waar je op kan vertrouwen.

Ha! In mijn lessen is wat jij wilt het belangrijkste. Daarom creëren we samen een studieplan met ideeën, doelen en onderwerpen om onze droom om muziek te maken te bereiken (dat is ook mijn droom)

Ik kan u alvast een overzicht geven van de inhoud van mijn lessen:

Ik verdeel de muziektheorie in twee delen: Technisch en muzikaal.
Technische Theorie over alle concepten en informatie met betrekking tot muziek (objectief), en Muzikale Theorie over de ideeën en concepten om ons te helpen bij het uitvoeren van muziek, en dit te begrijpen en te verbeteren (subjectief). Daarnaast kijken we op een functionele, ritmische en organische manier naar harmonie.
We leren en benaderen muziek vanaf de eerste les vanuit verschillende invalshoeken (begrip van ritme en de essentie van een lied bijvoorbeeld). Dit alles plus een mooi dieet van opdrachten en oefeningen :D

Bovendien besteden we extra aandacht aan het genieten van muziek. Dat betekent dus dat we veel spelen, maar ook dat we naar muziek gaan luisteren! (volgens mij is dat een van de beste manieren om te leren :)

En natuurlijk leren we ook door fouten te maken, dus uiteindelijk draait het allemaal om plezier en het uitproberen van nieuwe dingen ;)

Ik heb mijn bacheloropleiding met de hoogste cijfers afgerond, heb ervaring als concertartiest en heb prijzen gewonnen bij wedstrijden en verschillende studiebeurzen.

Music is Play! and everyone is it's own game.
Read, understand and make only the music you like. I think if it isn't fun, it can't be music:)

I studied a classical piano bachelor, and later a jazz master and a live electronics master. In the meantime, I have been teaching music. It's longer than 9 years now!
Most of my students learn piano. With the starter ones, I use my own system to equally help them grow all the needed skills: body consciousness (to avoid lesions or bad habits), music theory (including writing and reading) and improvisation.
Usually most songs are made of melody, chords and rhythm. From there, I can help you understand how a song works, how is it written, how does it translate to the piano... and voilá! You'll know the song by heart, and will be able to play it a bit different every time, because you won't be following a set of pre-imposed instructions. You will understand how a small system (a song) works.
This way of learning can be applied to any song, from any century or style. Understanding is key! Play Chopin, write rock songs, play Monk, Bill Evans, the Beatles, make a lo-fi beat, play Beethoven, play the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars, play video game music, play salsa! bachata and make people dance, laugh or cry.
Music is very powerful!

PD: I have also experience imparting electronic music lessons in Ableton Live and Max MSP, which is now a very important part of my professional practice. In case you are interested, it is also possible to mix the two worlds and create a any kind of path between piano, synths, beats and home studio techniques.

My name is Enrique and I come from Andalucía, Spain. I am a Classical Piano student at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and I would be pleased to be your teacher.
