I will also be going over the history of hip hop dance and music. I have experience teaching students of all levels and age groups. I normally tailor my class to each individual student. I am happy to work with any level and I also prepare students for competitions.

In this Raqs Sharqi (Belly Dance) class we focus on awakening feminine energy through fluid movements, hip release and expressive choreography. You will explore a wide variety of hip techniques: from circles and figure eights to shimmies and drops while also working on posture, facial expression and presence. We will learn how different styles are danced, such as drum solos (tabla), darbuka drums which are performed without veil, as well as more lyrical pieces where the veil becomes part of the performance. Attention is given to musicality, cultural context and dress codes for each style, ensuring a balance between technique, creativity and self-expression. This Contemporary Dance class is a beginner-friendly space for self-expression and creativity.
