My name is Ilana. I just graduated the IB DP programme in May 2023. I really enjoy biology and took it at higher level and I would love to share my passion for the subject with other students. I just finished high school and so all the content is still quite fresh to me and I have good experience studying for IB exams and writing IA's.

I received my International Baccalaureate diploma with Biology as one of my higher-level subjects in May 2023. I consistently got 6's and 7's in my biology exams, including the final exam. I am willing to offer support with IB style questions (structured and multiple choice) as well as tutor areas of the subject that are challenging and look over IA's. I believe that I am equipped to tutor both higher-level and standard-level IB students as well as MYP students studying biology. Need help with geography, biology, or chemistry? As a 33-year-old civil engineer, I'm happy to help! I'll learn at your own pace, using plenty of examples to illustrate the material. I have years of experience teaching both simple and complex subjects.

The lessons run as follows. First, we look together for the student's biggest stumbling blocks. These can be related to the subject matter as well as to the study method. From there, I work at the pace of the student and encourage them to ask as many questions as possible. I also give tips and tricks, and improve their working methods where necessary. During the lesson I give many examples to make the subject matter more interesting and we solve exercises together. Once practiced from the lesson, I mastered challenging exercises to also test the deeper understanding of the subject matter. In this way I try to optimally prepare the student for his/her exam test.

However, learning should also be enjoyable. That is why I always strive for a bond with the student through a spontaneous and positive approach. I am also very patient. All this to solve and improve the problems.

I have several years of experience tutoring students of different age groups in Latin and Ancient Greek. I am deeply passionate about these languages and I enjoy helping students improving at them.
I believe that understanding the structure of a sentence is fundamental when approaching these languages, therefore this is an important focus for me. During the class I always dedicate some time to reasoning and translating sentences together with the student.

I completed Biology HL in IB with a 6 overall. I am now studying it at the university level and am ready to help students struggling with IB Biology SL. I am familiar with the syllabus and can help students break down complex topics into simpler concepts that are easy to digest.

We will begin with a lesson in order to get to know each other and see whether our goals align. We will discuss what exactly you need help with and make a weekly tutoring schedule. At the end of every class I expect students to let me know what they need help with next time or tell me 3 days before the next lesson at the latest.
