Poetry writing course with a passionate multilingual poet

Everyone learns differently. That's why I teach the way you want. You decide what you want to learn and how, including when your lesson takes place and how long it lasts. I teach creative writing to anyone who wants it, regardless of age, online or at my home in Velp. I can help you write fiction, nonfiction, poetry, song lyrics or theatre text. I can teach you writing techniques or we can work on a writing project. Whether it's a book, blog, fan fiction or thesis, I can help you. Anything is possible. I am a trained writer and a second-degree teacher. I have over 10 years of experience in education and have been teaching creative writing, literature, art history and other subjects at a small secondary school for a number of years, where I am also a team member. I write teaching materials that are used at various schools in secondary and higher education. I have a lot of experience with innovative education and one-on-one teaching. In the modern world, the significance of poetry is overlooked. From Aristotle to Derrida (the range is not comprehensive), literary theory has maintained that a poem's power is measured in its affect. Throughout this course, our goal will not be to make inscrutable poetic analysis - though the first part of the lesson will be spent analysing word choice, meter, line length and spaces of an English poem written between pre-modernism and postmodernism. Rather, through our perusal of poetic form we will be able to ground our work, somewhat modestly, in the English poetic tradition. Before the first class you will send me some of your own work so I know how to build or refine aesthetic temperament. I have been writing poetry for ten years and two years ago I published a chapbook at a press with competitive standards, and I am currently working on a full-length collection. If you wish to take up poetry seriously, time is needed and an eye for detail is essential. I look forward to us broadening our aesthetic sensibilities together.

I'm a writer and poet, and my experience of tutoring hundreds of people over the past couple of decades has taught me that anyone can write with the right tools, support and encouragement! We all have experiences we can draw on to express ourselves creatively through the written word. Children, young people, and those experiencing challenges often find writing particularly beneficial and enjoyable. I am here to help inspire new and emerging writers by guiding you through the basics of writing, facilitating a deepened enjoyment and understanding of the power of words, and, importantly, supporting you to have confidence in your unique voice. These interactive, informal, and supportive online classes are aimed at students of any age (above 7 years) who wish to write poetry, short stories, or creative prose (such as life writing). This includes beginners who are keen to learn basic writing skills, and those with some experience wishing to develop their practice and learn more, including students of English and creative writing at school, college or outside of formal education. Although we will touch on key grammatical terms, the focus will be on your creative expression through the written word. In these classes, which will be tailored according to age, experience, needs, and areas of interest, students will learn the basics of writing short stories, including flash fiction; poetry, including free verse and traditional forms such as Haiku and sonnets; and creative prose, including life writing or short creative essays. You can attend as many classes as you like, and together, we will build your skills and understanding of creative writing, including identifying the stories you want to tell. The classes will be a mix of presentation, 'warm-up' writing activities, discussion, reading and analysing key texts, main writing activities, and redrafting, editing and proof-reading your work. For those wishing to get published, there will be additional optional support available, such as detailed editing and mentoring advice, as well as hints and tips on developing as a writer. Bring what you need to me, and we will shape the classes together! I hold a recent DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, and parents or guardians of students under 18 years of age are welcome to meet the tutor first, and/or sit in on the classes. I taught Turkish to three people before. A Greek, an Arab and a German learned Turkish with me. They began to read Turkish poems and listen to songs. One of them even gives me song recommendations. You can too. You can learn language step by step. Turkish is a difficult language. I am aware. I'm not going to crush you under the grammatical walls. Step by step, I can prove how easily you can speak a language by speaking, singing, reading poetry. Let's try it.

Poetry is a powerful creative outlet, a deeply rewarding practice, and an avenue to practice the English language at a high conceptual level. For the young or old student who is seeking to read and discuss poetry in English, as well as write and workshop their own creative writing in a structured and positive environment, this is the perfect course. Readings will primarily be selected from contemporary and 20th century American and English poets. This course can be adapted for younger students with skill-appropriate material. About me: I was recognized as an outstanding Yale Student Poet in my graduating year, with my writing put in a chapbook alongside other students. I took multiple poetry writing courses at university and have self-published two zines of my writing, funded by Yale.

I studied Language Sciences and Literature in Paris, where I also did tutoring sessions for students in difficulty. I also studied Game Design and Narrative Design. Being a musician, I write song lyrics for several projects. I have been writing poetry and freelance writing for over 10 years. I am also a content creator for a French-speaking Belgian webzine; Shoot Me Again. My background in literature and linguistics helped me to have a sensitivity to language. I bring a lot of importance to the weight of the words and to the rhythm in my writings. My diverse experience has helped me build a solid background. I can teach poetry, how to write song lyrics, spontaneous writing for the Spoken Word for example but also how to structure an article, a dissertation or any other writing. I offer creative writing classes that encourage and harness your interest and talent for the written word. As an award-winning, published playwright and poet, I bring my skills and experience to every class as I demystify approaches and offer supportive and practical lessons. With years experience as a teacher and facilitator with both children and adults, I tailor my lessons to fit your needs and aims. This class can help you work towards English/Creative Writing qualifications at many different levels or simply to develop and explore your interest and talent in writing. Be it poetry, novels, screenwriting or playwriting, this lesson will take your writing to the next level.

I specialise in teaching rap skills and lyric writing. If you enjoy rap music and would like to learn how to improve your technique then I am here to help you! I have many years of experience teaching, performing and recording my own music. I sing, rap, write lyrics and have performed with a band in the past. I can cover different styles including Hip Hop and Grime. We will also cover lyric writing where I can help you with your flows and technique to create your own original material. There is an option to get custom made beats to help you create your own original tracks. I really enjoy teaching and like to make the lessons challenging and fun.

Poetry is a unique and specialized craft, requiring a strong facility for language and a distinct poetic voice. In this class we can work on whatever you need: starting from scratch with prompts for beginning a poem, workshopping an already existing piece or pieces, or learning about formal techniques and the fundamental aspects of good poetry. Learn from an experienced student of poetry! Halli received her BA in Creative Writing from DePaul University in 2023. She is currently pursuing an MA in Poetry at Queen's University Belfast. She is a Citywide Poet Representative and former editor of DePaul Literary Magazine, Crook & Folly. She has been published in Crook & Folly ed. 42 (2022) and The Apiary ed. 8. (2025).

I am a South Korean poet and actor. I currently live in the Netherlands. Last year, I taught children at a Korean language school in Eindhoven. Because I was an actor, my Korean pronunciation is very accurate and can be of great help in developing your Korean conversation skills. Also, since I am a poet, I can also teach classes on Korean literature. In the Netherlands I make a living as a musician. So, it is possible to take classes to learn Korean while learning K-pop. I express my gratitude to all of you who love the Korean language and love Korea, and I will be ready to experience the beauty of the Korean language with you and actively help you!

Spoken word is a performing art between poetry and performance, leaving reason behind and discovering your creativity. I would love to teach you how to write poetry and spoken word pieces. First of all, we zoom in on the content: how do you translate your experiences, opinions, stories to paper, how do you go from idea to piece, and which writing techniques help you write? And we mainly get to work with fun assignments. From the content point of view, we then look at performance: how do you recite a piece, and how does it support what you want to say.

I am a widely published poet and experienced and knowledgeable teacher willing to give poetry classes at any level, whether you are struggling to write your first poem or are assembling a first collection. My approach is constructive, friendly and approachable. I listen to the needs of my students in our first lesson, and will propose a plan of lessons based on what you hope to achieve. This may include setting prompts, tasks, and exercises, going through your writing, suggesting extra reading, and giving constructive feedback.
