I am a native English speaker with a BSc from University College London in Anthropology (so if you are interested, I can teach you something about that too!). I am living in Helsinki to do a Master's degree in social sciences, and looking to do some part time tutoring.

I have previously worked as an online English teacher for kids and adults and volunteered with ESL classes in the UK. I have a TEFL certificate, and am able to teach focussing on a wide range of skills, including conversation or more specific grammar / writing skills.

I also have a lot of experience working with children, as I have volunteered with youth projects in Greece and the UK, worked as a babysitter and as an English-language educator to a 5-year old child in France. I'd be happy to teach kids of any age!

If you've lost confidence in English or German, want to start from scratch or want to perfect already present knowledge, I can help you achieve your goals, drawing on 20+ years of successful teaching.

I spent my childhood and teens moving back and forth between Germany and America (attending local schools) as a French citizen, so in addition to being a native speaker of both languages, I am also sensitive to individual concerns that can come up e.g. shyness, difficulty expressing oneself, etc. I have taught private students from all walks of life in Germany, France, Hungary, UK, USA, and now Finland, focusing on anything from run-of-the-mill tutoring to specific needs e.g. confidence in public speaking, social settings related to work, preparation for college / grad school.

My method is to motivate students by setting challenges that let them see their own success. Each country also has its own method of teaching and learning, which can greatly assist in acquiring language skills.

You will gain confidence, speak with ease, learn to speak as naturally as a native speaker and know the difference between their / they're / there at the very least.

Different rates apply, depending on what you are looking for. Duration of a class will vary according to your needs, so feel free to let me know what you are looking for, whether you're absolutely sure or just want to dip your toe in the water.

I teach in English, German, French, Polish or Hungarian

I specialize in teaching English for TOEFL exams, as well as for high school students. If you have anything you are not doing well in, please do let me know before the session. For TOEFL takers, tips for how to score well can be provided during the class, as well as some practice exercises.

English is an international language and it is never too late to brush up your conversation skills to chat with friends, for a job interview, to participate in meetings or pass a test to prove your language skills. I have a student-centred approach based on a mutual discussion about what goals you want to achieve and the duration to realize them. I give classes on an online webcam, but I am also flexible to travel to Helsinki and Espoo region if the need so arises. So what are you waiting for?
