En este curso de 8 sesiones de dos horas cada una, nos adentraremos en la fascinante historia de la España Medieval.
Estaremos explorando la historia medieval de la península ibérica centrándonos en la presencia islámica que abarcó un espacio temporal de ocho siglos. Este curso se propone a analizar el mundo islámico en Iberia desde la transición de los visigodos del arrianismo al catolicismo hasta la llegada del gobierno islámico, al mismo tiempo que aparece un fenómeno llamado la Reconquista cristiana. Consideraremos además como se desarrolló la vida en la ciudad medieval entre los tres credos (cristianos, judíos y musulmanes), haciendo un énfasis especial tanto en el legado como en sus logros culturales.

¿Cuál es la importancia de estudiar este período? Pues hoy como en el medioevo ibérico, y en todo el mundo, luchamos y sufrimos con diferentes formas de gobierno que se basan en distintas tradiciones políticas, culturales y religiosas. Los valores y nociones que han expresado el judaísmo, el cristianismo y el islam han llegado a preconcebir de cierta forma nuestras ideas sobre el un gobierno ideal y los derechos humanos básicos. Y, sin embargo, la antigua idea de la realeza, las teocracias y el corporativismo aún subsisten en el siglo XXI. En todo el mundo, al igual que en la península Ibérica medieval, la gente se debate sobre cómo abordar la gobernanza, los conflictos religiosos y étnicos y la migración masiva.

Del mismo modo, como en esa época, debemos siempre considerar una cuestión clave: formar parte de una sociedad ("nosotros") frente a un extraño ("ellos"). A pesar que esas sociedades eran muy diferentes a las nuestras, la realidad es que también tenemos muchos elementos en común, por lo que te invitamos a experimentar esta aventura dentro de la historia intercultural en la península ibérica bajo el período islámico.

Claves para Entender el Conflicto Árabe-Israelí: un siglo de lucha por la Tierra Santa

Con la reciente escalada de violencia entre palestinos e israelíes, es necesario conocer desde una perspectiva histórica, los procesos que permitirán a los asistentes entender el conflicto entre árabes y judíos. Se hará un recorrido sintético a lo largo de más de 100 años de lucha: desde la primera guerra mundial hasta los acontecimientos más recientes, así como las perspectivas a futuro. Los estudiantes conocerán las coyunturas y hechos históricos fundamentales con los cuales podrán comprender la realidad actual. Como elementos adicionales también los interesados van a informarse sobre las distintas controversias que han difundido los medios de comunicación occidentales, así como los discursos políticos.
A lo largo de las 4 sesiones que componen este seminario profundizaremos en la complejidad de esta problemática y podremos responder esas preguntas que tanto nos preocupan como espectadores de este enfrentamiento: ¿Cómo surgió el conflicto? ¿Hay soluciones posibles? ¿Qué territorios están en disputa y por qué? ¿Por qué han fracasado diversos intentos de alcanzar la paz? Estás y otras inquietudes serán resueltas a lo largo de este breve pero muy completo recorrido.

History and politics have always been a passion of mine and I am very much willing to teach anyone who desires any tutoring. At times it can be very difficult and overwhelming if you need to make an exam or write an essay - I can be there to help in case you need guidance! The goal here would be to make you understand history better, organize patterns in your head and possibly make you love the subject! This should definitely help in either expanding your worldview, or enhancing your history grades. I am willing to teach history (or politics/maatschappijleer) in Dutch or English.

I have little preference in regard to eras or themes in history, but if you must know I especially enjoy political and military macro-history. The grand patterns throughout history fascinate me, with of course, attention to large events. No era or area is particularly strange to me, again, being able to process history is the goal here!

The grand goal is to get a basic, intermediate or advanced understanding in one of the subjects. I could, possibly, rehearse with you and ask you how fluent you are in the topics at hand. I am fully willing to adapt to the student his or her academic needs. In case you wish me to help you in structuring or writing a history essay, then this, too is no problem!

What benefits you get from my Teaching classes:

1) I am not very strict when it comes to extra time. We can extend a bit. +10 mins is no problem. I always think that long sessions with small pauses are better so that you get a grip of the topic.

2) I can teach in group as well as alone , what suits you best. In case you are out for a break and don't want to lag behind in comparison to what is going on in school we, can have some back to back classes in short time, if that suits you.

Teaching has been a long time passion for me. I have taught already some candidates (look testimonials below) and during my colleges days I have held classes with several group of students. After moving to University I was also delivering sessions for my classmates from different parts of the world and I was in-charge of specific experiment for Bachelors and Masters students as well for a year.

About Me
I had Mathematics and Science in my School time where I scored 95/100 in Maths and 99/100 in Sciences (Indian First stage of Scientific Education) and then 95/100 again in Mathematic for exams Just before University. Due to love for machines I pursued Mechanical Engineering and then specialized in Materials Science (Physics and Chemistry of Materials). In a nutshell I am a Materials Scientist.

The subjects of World History and Social Studies are often left aside as they are seen as less useful that the other subjects, but I believe children can learn a lot from observing and learning about what happened in the past and what happens today. I want to share my knowledge about these subjects with them while also helping them managing the knowledge they already have and need to learn. In schools, history is often taught through learning dates and events but history should be taught in the form of a story, which is easier to remember, and the useful information will stick longer.
I am willing to help my students with the homework they have as well and teach them some skills in how to organize and manage the work they receive.

I have teaching experience in international schools in Qatar, Italy and the US with students in middle school and high school, having taught the American curriculum and the International Baccalaureates curriculum.
