My name is Marsilda. I am a professional Italian teacher for 10 years with a bachelor's and master's degree. I currently live in Italy and I am here to help you with Italian, the language of love. Since I was a child I spoke two languages in my family. I know what it feels like to learn a new language, that’s why I know how to encourage, understand, and establish a good relationship with my students. I’ve been teaching since I was 19 when I left home for college. I was mainly tutoring and helping students with homework at that time. In 2020 because of COVID, I started to work online as a translator, private teacher of Italian, and everything that involved the Italian language.

In my lessons we not only learn a language, but if you like, we can learn about Italian culture, traditions, religion, food 😁 and so on. Usually, to facilitate learning, I use innovative methods, such as recommending TV shows or movies, books, songs, poems, and everything that piques the student's interest. Then we comment together in class.

One important thing for me is that my students speak the language every day, not just twice a week we have the lesson. This is fundamental to accustom the brain to become more and more familiar with the language. That’s why I recommend apps, songs, and sites where you can keep your language trained until our next lesson.

Ciao! I have been teaching Italian for the past twelve years. I have taught privately and at language schools like La Scuola Italiana del Greenwich Village in New York and ItalCultura, the school of the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago. During the first few lessons I will make sure you have the tools to pronounce and identify all the sounds of the Italian language. This step is essential! And it will make everything easier afterwards. When I teach Italian I try to avoid all the things that I hated as a language student. We will use real songs, real literature, do real conversation and storytelling. When you are engaging all your senses it is easier to keep your mind relaxed and to remember new words.

I will customize my materials to your interests, needs and desired pace. And because you are learning from a native Italian you will also learn about Italian culture and history. You will absorb a way of thinking, not just grammar rules.

I speak a bunch of languages so I know a thing or two about how tedious language classes can be. My terrifying French teacher in middle school made us repeat the same fake dialogue from a really bad book ad nauseam, over and over and over again. Some of those dialogues are carved in my brain: “Bonjour, je m’appelle Richard Drapeau, je viens du Canada, je suis Canadien...”

When I teach Italian I try to avoid all the things that I hated as a language student. We will use real songs, real literature, do real conversation and storytelling and we will go on “talking walks” because when you are engaging all your senses it is easier to keep your mind relaxed and to remember new words.

I hold a degree in Lingue e Letterature Straniere (Foreign Languages and Literatures) from Università Roma Tre (equivalent to an American MA) and a Master’s of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts and Media from Columbia College Chicago. I wrote a thesis about translating a long epic poem by W. H. Auden and I tried to ride a horse across America.

If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts. If the students do not feel comfortable using Italian from scratch, I can switch to English, German, or Dutch. The course fee includes the correction of home assignments.

Hello! 안녕세요! My name is Aki and I will soon graduate with a bachelor's degree in "Korean Studies" at Leiden University, part of which I spent at Sogang University in South Korea. During my studies, I mainly focus on pronunciation and conversation. However, during my stay in Korea, I noticed a big difference between "textbook Korean" and the Korean that people speak in everyday life. In my lessons, I try to keep this difference as small as possible and make it sound as natural as possible by focusing on conversations and modern vocabulary. We work with grammar, vocabulary and conversations around an overarching theme.
Although I have a basic package for beginners, I find it very important to look at the goals of the student. If you have specific goals or suggestions such as understanding K-pop songs, K-dramas or achieving Topik level 1-2, ... then I will gladly put together a personal package with matching themes that we will cover together.
