Ik heb Communicatie gestudeerd aan de Fontys Hogeschool in Tilburg. Deze studie heb ik in 2009 succesvol afgerond.
Daarna heb ik de opleiding Spaans als Tweede Taal niveau C1 afgerond aan de Miguel Cervantes Academy in Madrid.

Mijn liefde voor talen is een aantal jaren geleden begonnen, toen ik besefte hoe waardevol het is om je vloeiend te kunnen uitdrukken in verschillende talen. Tijdens mijn vorige baan heb ik veel met vrijwilligers gewerkt. Vaak waren dit vrijwilligers die de Engelse of Spaanse taal niet of nauwelijks beheersten. Dit gaf mij de motivatie om hen tijdens het werken te helpen met al hun vragen; soms waren dit vragen over spreekvaardigheid of over de cultuur maar ook vaak grammaticale vragen.
Nederlands is mijn moedertaal, de taal waarin ik artikelen schrijf en ook de taal die ik onder andere mijn Guatemalteekse man heb geleerd.

I was born in Istanbul in 1983. I started teaching Turkish while studying Turkish Language and Literature at university. I worked in a language school and at universities, and I suppose I gained success. 😀 I have been teaching Turkish professionally for more than 16 years. I also taught Turkish for 5 years when I was a university student.

In 2018, I obtained a TESOL certificate and also began teaching English. I teach both adults and children. Creating a comfortable learning environment for my students is one of my top priorities. If you would like to learn Turkish or English in a consistent and structured way, I would be happy to work with you.

Learning a new language opens a new window into a person; teaching Turkish is the same for me. As I build stronger relationships with my students, I notice their engagement with the Turkish language deepens.

I speak English and a bit of Italian, and I have also studied Persian and German grammar. I am interested in literature.

I hold firmly to two main principles: creating a comfortable space for learning and building an encouraging atmosphere.

My students often describe me as patient, positive, and well-organised. Over time, I’ve found my own way of making Turkish feel easier, more enjoyable, and more practical to learn.

I love shaping each lesson around my students’ interests, needs, and learning styles. I adapt my teaching to the needs of students with special conditions, such as ADHD and OCD.

In my lessons, you’ll never feel afraid of making mistakes. Before long, you’ll start noticing them on your own and correcting yourself naturally.

Even though I use a communicative approach, my lessons are supported by a solid understanding of grammar, as Turkish has a very different structure.

I use the course book set prepared by Istanbul University. It follows a strategic approach to learning Turkish and includes all language skills—reading, grammar, writing, listening, watching, and speaking—from A1 to C2. All of these skills are essential for conversation.

I teach English for the A1 and A2 levels.

The workbook offers many exercises for homework or revision, and I support the book with my own authentic materials. I also use an interactive board that you can view anytime, and you can edit it as well. Repetition-based speaking practice plays an important role in my lessons.
