For online sessions i work with Blizz from the firm Teamviewer. This is a European firm which has to work according to the European privacy rules.

Ik geef al ruim 25 jaar les als docent fotografie en beeldbewerking. Ik doe dit voor amateurs en professionals, van jong tot oud. Mensen die al jaren fotograferen en mensen die gisteren een camera of computer hebben gekocht.

De persoonlijke benadering en verschil in niveau, tempo en leerbehoefte van de student maakt het voor mij interessant. Ik kijk naar jouw mogelijkheden en wensen en pas mijn lessen aan op jouw behoefte. En graag stimuleer ik je om verder te kijken naar nieuwe mogelijkheden.

Iedere fotograaf heeft een unieke blik en visie of doel voor het maken van foto's. Ik help je graag om jouw mogelijkheden verder te ontwikkelen.

Education

Ik heb een FotoVak opleiding en Grafische vooropleiding gevolgd. Daarna nog vele cursussen om nieuwe technieken en lesmethodes te leren.

Ik heb jaren als zelfstandig fotograaf gewerkt en heb veel ervaring in de grafische sector.

Als docent heb ik onder andere les gegeven op de FotoAcademie, Fotovakschool, Koninklijke Academie voor beeldende kunst en verschillende cursuscentra in de Randstad.

With Adobe Photoshop improve the appearance of your photos or make extensive changes yourself. As an Experienced Photography and image editing teacher with beginners but also with professionals with many years of experience. And work for Adobe, Apple and other software companies, among others.

We make a special training program that matches your wishes and experience with the software.

I will teach you the possibilities of Photoshop Elements or the professional version Photoshop CS or the latest version CC. And of course I can also teach you how to use the various App versions of the software.

There is also a fixed Basic Photoshop program. In 6 hours you will learn all the most important tools in this software. Below is an overview of the topics I deal with.

I handle the archive part of the software, is very efficient in organizing and finding your photos. Backing up your files is also necessary and easy to implement with this software. We also work with the Bridge from Photoshop CS and CC. Or we work from the archive and Raw possibilities of Lightroom and work with layers in Photoshop.

In a basic course you learn the essence of image editing. You learn to adjust the white balance, contrast and sharpness of your photo quickly and clearly. We learn how to properly adjust the size and resolution and remove red eyes, pimples and dust. And of course you learn everything about printing photos.

You learn the benefits of editing Raw files. And we use layers, adjustment layers and layer makers to improve the photo locally. And you learn to merge different photos into one photo montage.

Photoshop can also help you archive and organize your photos. In the course we show how to transfer photos from your camera to your computer. We are going to sort photos, group them and provide them with text information so that you can easily find them later. In Photoshop you can easily merge your photos into a photo album or print as a postcard which you can print yourself or at the photo shop.

This presentation shows the most used techniques of the package so that you can edit your photos yourself in a short time. In the course you do not work behind a computer, but with the extensive reader you can put the treated lessons into practice at home behind your own computer.

No special knowledge is required to follow this basic course. You can download a free demo version of Photoshop on the Adobe website, which you can use for a month. You can bring your own photo files to edit as an example in class.

Together with the reader of this course, it is fairly easy to quickly master this technique.

As an experienced teacher I teach photography and image editing. I learn camera technology, work with compact and studio flash units and work out concepts and my own style. I teach beginners, experienced photographers and professionals. I help companies set up and set up a photo studio and train staff to become a professional photographer.

We make a suitable lesson program depending on your experience and wishes.

We also have a number of courses in which we teach you the basic techniques of photography. We work with supportive beamer presentations and readers in which the treated lesson components are clearly described.

Photography with your Smartphone

Would you like to learn more about photography with your Smartphone, Tablet or Compact Camera, then this is your chance.

In this introduction course we cover the various institutions in 3 hours to take even better photos.

We practice the different techniques during the lesson and discuss the results. In addition to technology, we are also talking about the composition, atmosphere and content of your photos.

You learn how to make beautiful portraits and how you can best photograph a landscape. You learn how to control the color and brightness of your photo.

We look at Apps to further expand the capabilities of your SmartPhone or Tablet and to edit, archive and share your photos with others.

Basic Photography Course

In this course you will learn the most important techniques of the digital camera. We cover the shutter speed, the aperture, and the ISO setting. We work with motion blur and the focusing system.

You learn to adjust the brightness and color of your photo and you assess the photos using the histogram and high light indicator. You learn the difference between JPG and RAW and how to set the correct amount of pixels.

We import the photos on the computer and organize, edit and save the results. We discuss photo printing via the photo shop or website.

We practice the different techniques during the lesson and discuss the results. In addition to technology, we are also talking about the composition, atmosphere and content of your photos.

Portrait photography

In this course you learn the different aspects of portrait photography. We work with existing light and learn how you can beautifully illuminate a model in the studio with artificial light. You learn to set a good white balance and to choose the best position and objective.

You will of course learn to look closely at the composition and directing your model. Because even photos that look spontaneous at first sight often require direction from the photographer.

In the reader that comes with the course, the various techniques of photography and image editing are clearly described so that you can get started with this at home.

Product photography

In this course you learn to photograph objects. For example your own artworks for your presentation folder or products for your own web store. You learn to set a good white balance and to choose the best position and objective.

For example, you learn how to illuminate jewelry and other 3D objects so that they are beautifully spatially added. We also handle the reproduction of paintings and drawings. In principle we work with artificial light in the studio, but you also learn how you can achieve a very good result without expensive studio lighting.

We import, organize and edit JPG and Raw files. We discuss the need for color management, the different file formats and the printing of photos

Working with flash units

In this course you will learn how to take beautiful pictures with a flash. We work with the built-in flash, compact flash units and studio flash units.

You learn the influence of aperture, shutter speed and ISO speed when working with a flash. With fill-in flashes we mix existing light and flash light. You learn to adjust the shade and color of the light.

We work with various tools to improve the flash. You learn to work with exposure compensation, slow sync, second shutter curtain and the Master and Slave function.

We practice the different techniques during the lesson and discuss the results. The technique is described in detail in the reader.

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Martin is a professional photographer and photojournalist. Through his numerous personal projects, he is particularly interested in youth and geo-environmental issues. The 21st century and the upheavals that accompany it particularly fascinate him.

During 2017 and 2018, he carried out numerous projects in South-East Asia where he was able to work for seven months. The most important of these is entitled The Faces of the Mekong. Using the mythical Mekong River and its resources as a common thread, it provides a broad perspective on the geo-environmental issues related to development in the Indochinese peninsula (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand).
He has also focused on Vietnamese and Laotian youth through the prism of street sports and urban culture.

In 2019, he travelled to Hong Kong to cover, among other things, the uprising of the pro-democracy movement, which earned him a nomination for the Bayeux Prize for War Correspondents in the Young Reporter category.

In parallel to his projects, Martin also responds to commissions from the press, NGOs and private companies.

His work is regularly published in the French and international press (Le Monde, Libération, The Washington Post, Le Figaro, Vice, Reporterre, Mr Mondialisation, Fisheye Magazine).
They have been awarded several times, including the François Chalais Young Reporter of the Year Award 2015 in the photo category. He was a finalist for the Grand Prix Paris Match du Photoreporter étudiant and a winner of the Young Talents Photo Prize by fotofever.
These projects also lead to exhibitions and conferences.

PRACTICAL OUTING

For a more concrete and playful practice of photography, this outing will allow us to work on different aspects of photography:
- Mastering your camera, whatever it is. If you practice photography with your smartphone, you are also welcome.
- Work on framing and composition.
- Using light as raw material
- Learning about street photography.
- Post-production of photographs on Lightroom (only on request).

IN-DEPTH TRAINING

The training consists in accompanying you in the development of your photographic projects and in the setting up of your activity of photographer. This training concerns photography as I practice it. That is to say, photography that speaks of the world in which we live and which, at the same time, is creative with a real aesthetic research. In other words, we are halfway between photo reportage, documentary photography and artistic photography.
This programme is tailored to each student and is divided into two main parts

1) The creative process :
- Developing personal photographic writing
- Preparing and carrying out projects
- Assimilate the photographic narrative and the codes of photoreportage
- Knowing how to be a versatile photographer to diversify your sources of income
- Responding to a photographic commission

2) An activity that is a source of income in the long term:
- Communicate well with the right tools
- Finding funding for your projects
- Sell your projects and photographs through various channels
- Mastering productivity techniques to be efficient while remaining independent
- Find clients and trigger concrete orders
- Multiply your sources of income

With this training, I will be at your side to accompany you in the different stages of this process. Together we will set your concrete short and long term goals and we will work day by day on the best method to reach them.
In concrete terms, the training consists of working meetings by video conference or in person.

This training does not require a particular age or level of education. Nevertheless, certain prerequisites are necessary such as a good general culture (to understand the world in which we live), a certain maturity as well as a basic technical mastery of photography.

In a few private lessons I will teach you all the important skills, so that you can do everything you want.

I am an (art) photographer and teacher and I have been giving private Photoshop lessons for over 12 years.

Private lessons are available in the afternoon and evening and on Saturdays. I teach via video calling or personally in Amsterdam East.

I tailor the lessons to your needs, interests and pace so that you effectively learn what you want. I work with a minimum of two hours per lesson. Longer lessons at a time are of course also possible. Ask about special student/package prices.
