My name is Ella, I’m a professional jazz singer. I have a degree in teaching, and have years of experience in teaching and coaching singers. I’m constantly looking to deepen my knowledge, and I’m currently studying new techniques focused on voice anatomy.

In my coaching sessions I focus mostly on vocal techniques such as:

-Full voice (chest voice)
-Stiff voice (head voice)
-Twang
-The use of jaw and tongue
-Control of the velum (soft palette)
-Anchoring (support)
-Larynx

In my view, these techniques are like colors in your palette, when you master them, you can decide when and where you want to use them. Your sound should always be a choice, not a way to hide what you can't do (yet).

This course is meant for intermediate to advanced singers.
Courses take place in Anderlecht, at walking distance from Brussels South station.

Mijn naam is Ella, muzikante en zangcoach. Tijdens mijn eerste jaar op het conservatorium kreeg ik stemknobbels door een verkeerde stemtechniek. Dat voelde als een persoonlijke nederlaag, alsof ik ‘niet goed genoeg’ was. Ik besloot logopedie te volgen en me te verdiepen in zangtechniek. Zo ontdekte ik Estill voice training (EVT), en er ging een wereld voor open. Mijn passie voor zangtechniek groeide snel, naast mijn liefde voor muziek schrijven en optreden. Nu wil ik die passie doorgeven aan anderen. Het geef me voldoening om mensen te helpen te mogelijkheden van hun stem te ontdekken.

Alles begint bij een sterke basis. Of je nu streeft naar een professionele zangcarrière of je techniek wilt verfijnen, Ik begeleid je graag op jouw weg.
De aanpak is op maat en combineert technische expertise met diepgaande kennis van stemgezondheid. We kijken dus samen naar wat jij nodig hebt om verder te geraken.

Education

In 2019 behaalde ik mijn master in uitvoerende jazz en lichte muziek aan het Koninklijk conservatorium Brussel, en in 2021 volgde mijn educatieve master in muziek en podiumkunsten

What do people expect from a good Music School?

Decent education:

From the outset, the Wonderful World Music School opted for an offer based on highly qualified qualified teachers who could be engaged and not vice versa. This immediately guarantees that the program (the same as the official part-time music education and the Municipal Conservatories) is followed in a proper manner.
Personal assistance:

Musicschool Wonderful World chose a smart way of coaching. In addition to individual lessons, where the student gets all the attention, they consciously choose to keep the classroom lessons small. In this way, lessons can also be given in a quasi-individual way. This results in a more intensive form of teaching, which requires fewer lessons than in official part-time music education to process the same subject material.
We offer great flexibility in choice of teaching hours package. Each pupil has the choice to take lessons for 1/2 hour or one hour (or more) per week. 1 h. lesson every 14 days is also possible.
We work with lessons of 10 or 30 lessons. The pupil can therefore jump in at any time of the year.
And a great flexibility at the time of the lesson. We try, if pupils follow an instrument next to the class lessons, to place them as much as possible. Also, as far as possible, the optimal lesson time is always sought for the pupil. Something that is impossible in official part-time music education.
Every year we organize lectures, exams and student concerts, such as in official part-time music education. At the annual proclamation we award diplomas, followed by a pleasant dinner and / or garden party.
In a pleasant atmosphere:

The personal approach quickly creates a relationship of trust between pupils and teachers.
But in addition, Muziekschool Wonderful World has the advantage of its atmospheric environment: the lessons take place under the wooden beams of the atmospheric, eighteenth-century classrooms of our classified establishment in Sint-Katelijnestraat 63: the perfect framework for making music.
At a reasonable price:

The prices of the Wonderful World Music School are very competitive. The official part-time music education has since September significantly increased its prices for adults, so that the gap with our private education is still very small. In addition, you can spread the payment of your registration fee by choosing lessons per 10 (ie by paying the fee per school year in 3 installments).
A few more practical announcements:

The lesson dates of the class lessons are given in the beginning of September for the entire school year.
We also organize summer internships with renowned musicians with international allure and charisma.
We also organize Masterclasses with renowned musicians with international allure and charisma.
Students can park their bikes on our inner courtyard. There are also 3 Vinci-Parks within walking distance. The ideal location!
Route:

By train: Our location is a 20-minute walk from Mechelen station in the shadow of the Sint-Rombouts cathedral and within walking distance of the Grote Markt.
By car: Nearest car park, Cathedral or Grote Markt, both less than 100 meters away.
At 50 meters from Huis De Min in the Kanunnik De Deckerstraat a large parking lot is provided. It costs 2.40 EUR / 2 hours. Please note: you may park for a maximum of 2 hours (valid from Mon - Sat from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm).
Would you like to stay in Mechelen after a concert? Mechelen has some nice hotels within walking distance of our locations: Hotel Vé, Hotel Elisabeth, the Three Horse Signs and Den Grooten Wolsack

Guitar and Singing Lessons: For beginners and advanced students, young and old. Everyone receives a personal lesson plan and objectives. You don't need to know any theory. The lessons take place in a pleasant demo room.
At your own pace I will teach you the guitar and its possibilities so that you can quickly play your favorite songs.

Hi!

Have you always wanted to learn to sing?

I love passing on the knowledge of my craft. The mechanics of the voice is such a small and intricate thing, and knowing what goes inside our throat and body is a very special experience. I get excited and moved every time a student achieves a new skill, and takes another step towards a deeper understanding of their voice.
On top of my experience as a singer and a teacher, I have a degree in linguistics. That allows me to know exactly what has to be done inside your throat and mouth in order to produce a specific sound. I can therefore adapt to each student: if they have an analytic mind, I can explain what goes on inside and what should be done to improve that. If they have an instinctive mind, I can help with metaphor in order to help the phonation. Or both! My method is multi-faceted because each voice is unique, and it is my job to adapt, and not the contrary.

How does a lesson work?
The first time we meet, we will talk about your journey in the music world. What have you done yet music wise, what artists and genres inspire you, what are your goals. Then we will do what we do in every regular lesson: I will direct you during some warming-up exercises, that include vocal technique work (if you have already warmed up, we just do a few exercises about technique), and then we will work on whatever you want. I ask my students to always come with at least one piece of music they want to work on (or maybe two, depends on the time we have on hands).
