The Piano Studio of Michael offers private piano lessons to students of all ages and abilities in the Vienna area. Michael teaches from his home in the 12th district, Meidling, or can travel to your home for lessons. Under Michael's teaching, students will study proper piano technique and musicianship in a creative and fun way. Lessons are catered to the goals of each student - whether you are itching to play the latest pop song or a nocturne by Chopin! He earned his bachelors of music in Piano Performance at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and his Masters of Music in Piano Accompaniment at the Guildhall School of Music in London. He continues his studies with Julius Drake in Lieder performance at the Kunstuniversität in Graz and works in Vienna as a freelance pianist with singers while giving recitals throughout Europe and the United States. I teach for the Enjoyment of Music as well. I believe you can learn to play the piano at any age. My oldest student is over 75 years old and my youngest one has 3 years old. They made great progress, I am sure you could do the same. I've never met anyone who didn't have musical abilities! You can be a serious or a recreational player. The only requirement is the willingness to spend some time at the piano. I conduct my lessons using a combination of 4 cameras for optimum visibility, and a quality microphone which my students find very helpful. This allows them to see a very clear visual demonstration alongside my verbal explanation. I can confidently say that Online Lessons are the same as In-Person Lessons. CURRICULUM I do not believe one method works for all students. I have used many different lesson books and resources over the years. For beginners I like to use Alfred method books for basics concepts and for Classical and Jazz Piano technique I like to use ABRSM books (grade 1-8). If my student feels that they can learn better from another books, I am glad to adapt my teaching strategies to their needs. Along with the lesson books below, I use a lot of supplemental materials based on the students' interests. I also aim to teach their favorite songs as soon as possible. I like to clearly explain and demonstrate piano technique. In this way, the students are able to apply the information on similar passages from all genres of music.
