Public Speaking and Effective speech for Beginners

Public speaking is a skill that allows you to navigate through many public settings such as class/work presentations, conferences, debates, sales, networking, negotiations and ceremonial speeches. It can be an essential tool to turn everyday scenarios into opportunities, whether business or personal.
I would have gone from being a shy, quiet individual to a speaker on the podium; that was a transformation that took practice and personal development. Now I can speak in any public situation, as I have been on various podiums, panels at events, competitions, conferences and meetings.
In this course you will:
• Tackle the fears of speaking in front of an audience and acquire the confidence necessary to do so
• Learn about the different types of public speakers, and the techniques heavily used by each
• Go through exercises that will assist in confidence, pitch and pacing
• Learn and practice techniques created, inspired and reinforced by Dale Carnegie to improve preparation and delivery
• Create your own five-minute speech with assistance and guidance.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Renee, I am originally from Barbados, which is one of the three countries I would have lived in. Throughout my life’s journey so far, I have been privileged to attend amazing educational institutions in Barbados and Guyana that would have aided me to where I am today. I would have won two scholarships one allowing for a life-changing experience in China and the other allowing me to study in Japan currently at Hokkaido University.

My formal teaching experience is very limited, however informally; I am responsible for coaching and inspiring (or at least I would hope so!) many children and adults.
I work well will children 8+, teenagers and adults. My approach is to first understand my students (their level, strengths, weaknesses, needs), afterwards, I am able to adjust the content of my classes to suit the individual.

The courses I will offer will be geared towards the arts and social sciences such as fine arts, resin crafts, public speaking, conversational skills, the art of persuasion, etc...

Involved in delivering sermons, speaking on behalf of small businesses at networking meetings, and public/ panel speaking at conferences and competitions.
Worked as a sales associate in the luxury beauty/skincare industry.
Obtained a scholarship to a cultural exchange program in China hosted by the Confucius Institute, 2016
Obtained the Monbukagakusho (MEXT) scholarship for my Master’s Study
