Hello! I'm Sebastiano, Italian harpsichordist and pianist. I teach, piano, harpsichord, and Italian language and I work as a support teacher for children for special needs. I'm completely in love with baroque music and for this reason I've decided to become a concert performer and play music from the 17th and 18th century.

Have you ever been worried that your accent isn't good enough, or that you may be mispronouncing things, or you just want practice speaking? Well, I can help you out! As a native English speaker and near native Italian speaker, I can help you from the basics, to helping you correct university level papers, and to just sitting down and having a chat with you!
I have had past experience with tutoring and am flexible towards what my students want. If you're looking for someone to give you weekly homework, and to teach you grammar and vocabulary then I can do just that (with an entertaining, laidback feel to it). I don't want learning a language to feel like a chore, or a burden, therefore I put a lot of effort in making my classes interesting, new, and fun to ensure you take the most out of it.

My goal is to guide and help the students grasp a high level of understanding in the basics of English language skills, ESL, and Italian.

If students find they already know something quite well, I will not dwell on such topics too long and will move on to other topics that are new to them, or of interest. My goal is to provide a focused session in which the student is really the center of attention, where all their needs are met.

I have always been passionate about music, I play three instruments, and I recently finished my piano studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of Piet Kuijken. Ciao ! Je m’appelle Francesco et je vis en Belgique depuis 2018. Je viens d’une petite ville de Ligurie, dans le nord de l’Italie, et je suis actuellement en train de terminer un doctorat en philosophie. Depuis plusieurs années, je donne des cours particuliers à des personnes qui souhaitent apprendre l'italien pour des raisons professionnelles ou simplement par plaisir. J’ai également donné deux cours dans une école en Flandre : un cours classique axé sur la grammaire et le vocabulaire, ainsi qu’un cours de conversation destiné à des étudiants plus avancés. Lessons in piano, harpsichord, and historical and modern cello, with program and repertoire, adapted to the goals and speed of each student, whether young, not so young, or adult, for a general introduction to these instruments, for preparation for high music education, as a supplementary aid for exams in music academies, or for a hobby, or for amateur group music-making, or for developing qualities as concentration, coordination, discipline, expressibility, awareness of styles and music history.
In my teaching, I rely mostly on old traditional methods, books, and repertoire, which have proved their efficiency over the time. I also make use of the teaching tradition of partimenti of the old Neapolitan conservatories - exercises for composing that can be applied from early stage. This not only adds a creative element soon after very beginning, but also teaches via practice the basics of harmony and polyphony.
Lessons can be combined (+30min.) with theory/solfege (ear training), if the student wishes.

I have been teaching for more than 15 years, privately, in Brussels, and in New York in the past, more than 100 students.
I am a graduate of Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, in baroque cello and harpsichord, but I play also modern cello organ, and piano.

I don't use a specific method, but I like to work very specifically on all aspects of piano playing.
