During this class you child will learn that an equation simply declares the equality of values either side of the equals sign.

With this in mind your child will learn the exact steps required to solve any equation just by mastering the art of making the right decisions, and applying these decisions to both sides of the equation.

I call this making a series of logical equation simplifying steps which simplifies the original equation without changing it, thus forming an easier more straightforward problem to solve.

Hi there
My name is Dr Michael O I am a qualified secondary school teacher with 8 years teaching experience in the secondary school setting and also 12 Years private tuition experience. I have had great successes over the years with guiding students towards top GCSE grades and entry into top common entrance (7+ 11+ and 13+) schools.

I obtained my PGCE in Secondary school science and maths at the outstanding department of education at the University of Oxford.

I am very passionate about teaching and I am highly committed to ensuring that all students excel by breaking down barriers to learning hindering progress both face to face in your home or online.

My aim is to ensure that all the students I teach become more confident in their approach to science and maths, become skilled problem solvers and also acquire the study skills that will see them in good stead during their GCSEs and beyond.

My other academic qualifications include a PhD in the medical sciences obtained at the University of Wales, a BSc in Medical Biochemistry and an MSc in Immunology obtained at the University of Birmingham. I am both a scientist and a teacher of science and one of my principle strengths is the ability to link all topics I teach to real life contexts.

I am an enthusiastic, approachable and patient tutor who enjoys making science easier and more comprehensible for A-level, GCSE and Key Stage 3 candidates who urgently need extra tuition in Chemistry, Biology, Maths or physics to boost their grades.

I enjoy delivering a problem based learning approach to tutoring particularly as educational research clearly shows that it is not IQ that determines how well students do in exams but rather exam practice, practice practice!!

My method: Logic before calculation
In the final year of high school, the difficulty is often not the calculation itself, but understanding the problem statement and choosing the correct theorem. My support focuses on three key areas:
