I hold a Doctorate in Music from McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, where I specialized in percussion under the mentorship of internationally acclaimed performers and pedagogues. My musical training began with classical piano studies at the age of five and continued with rigorous instruction through my adolescence. I studied with teachers trained in the Chinese Central Conservatory tradition, whose pedagogical lineage includes disciples of renowned pianists such as Fou Ts'ong and Yin Chengzong. My piano repertoire covered major works from the Classical and Romantic periods, and I was a regular participant in national youth competitions and conservatory masterclasses in China. In percussion, I studied under Aiyun Huang and Fabrice Marandola—both leading figures in contemporary percussion—and took part in masterclasses with Steven Schick and Dame Evelyn Glennie.

As a performer, I have collaborated with ensembles including the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and leading contemporary music groups, bringing a versatile and international perspective to my musical work. I have taught both piano and percussion to students of all ages and levels, from absolute beginners to advanced and professional musicians. I teach all styles of music—classical, pop, jazz, and contemporary—and tailor each lesson to fit the student’s individual goals, interests, and learning pace. Whether working with amateur students exploring music for the first time or preparing advanced students for auditions and performances, my teaching is grounded in respect, encouragement, and a commitment to developing each student's unique artistic voice.

I grew up in a musical household where discipline and creativity lived side by side. My earliest memories include the sound of my grandfather playing traditional Chinese instruments and my own hours at the piano, where music became not only a habit but a way of thinking. Much of my foundational training happened at home, and as a result, teaching has always felt like a natural extension of who I am. Over the years, I’ve taught students from diverse backgrounds—some preparing for conservatory auditions, others simply rediscovering joy through music. My experience as a professional performer, combined with my knowledge of both Western classical and Chinese musical traditions, allows me to adapt easily to each student's needs. Whether I’m helping a child find their first rhythm or guiding an adult through a Chopin nocturne, I approach every lesson with patience, intuition, and the belief that music belongs to everyone.

Graduated with a Diploma of Professional and Advanced Studies and a Master's degree in piano performance at the University of Montreal, I also obtained my Diploma of Musical Studies with A+ mention from the Jacques Thibaud Conservatory of Bordeaux in France. I have been working as a piano teacher for eight years now. I teach piano and music theory to all types of profiles, children, adolescents or adults ranging from a beginner to a professional level. During my musical journey, I tried to nourish my knowledge in the service of instrumental practice and pedagogy. During my lessons, we will cover subjects that are essential for me such as good position at the piano, flexibility of playing, stress management, bodily relaxation and of course, interpretation. My pedagogy is based heavily on this last point so that the student can stand out musically and find their own language while respecting a fair interpretation. I work every day to find a fun side to instrumental practice for the youngest while instilling in them the theoretical and technical bases they will need to develop their playing.

My lessons are divided into 2 parts (theoretical part - 30 minutes and practical part - 30 minutes), especially at the beginning.

As a pianist and musician with 20 years of experience, I offer classes that are adapted to you, your age, your proficiency level, and your preferences.
Whether you want to learn through techniques, songs, or theory, whether you're an adult or you're looking for your kids, whether you have experience with music or not, whether you're into classical music or pop and rock, I'm here for you!
My session lasts one hour, at my place or yours (for a fee), and includes exercises and tips that are adapted to you. The class is fun and playful while keeping your improvement as its main objective.

I offer an approach tailored to your needs (playful, based on learning songs, or more formal with college or university-level learning materials, etc.)

You will learn the sounds of your instrument, the proper posture for comfort, rhythms, and techniques useful at all levels of learning. You will learn the specific mechanisms of each instrument and its relationship to other percussion instruments in traditional ensembles.

For intermediate musicians, you will be able to develop a practice routine, learn a series of exercises to refine your mastery of your instrument's sounds and your dexterity on it. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the roots of your instrument and develop a rhythm library to use according to your goals.

For advanced musicians, we can explore how to conceptualize your place within a music group or percussion ensemble, as well as different approaches to your instrument adapted to popular, jazz or global music contexts.
